Ballet Flamenco La Rosa (BFLR), Miami’s premier flamenco company for the last 38 years, announces the premiere of cutting-edge new work at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium on Sat., 8/19/23, at 8 PM and Sun., 8/20 at 3 PM. Tickets are on sale now on Ticketmaster and at the box office.

Based in Miami, and made up of artists from Spain, the U.S. and Latin America, the company will bring four guest artists directly from Spain for this magnificent work.

With its breathtaking footwork, magnificent music, and powerful spirit, Flamenco is a perfect language to tell this iconic story. Deseo, an original Flamenco work, inspired by Tennessee Williams’ Streetcar Named Desire, uses Flamenco music and dance as a language to tell the iconic story of one of the most critically acclaimed American plays of the 20th Century. With some of the most engaging characters in American Theatre, Tennessee Williams’ sensuous and emotional work centers around troubled former schoolteacher Blanche DuBois, who leaves small-town Mississippi and moves in with her sister, Stella Kowalski, and her husband, Stanley, in New Orleans. Blanche’s flirtatious Southern-belle presence causes problems for Stella and Stanley, who already have a volatile relationship. This sets the stage for intense drama, as each of the characters fights his or her demons and struggles to escape the world around them, in a violent storm of frustrated dreams, poetry, love, passion, illusion and cruelty.

With its spectacular footwork, precise athleticism and vibrant energy, Flamenco is at once sensual and spiritual, raw and refined, and filled with both restrained passion and electrifying release, making it a powerful and passionate voice with which to tell this mesmerizing story. The production will incorporate live music, created and performed by the singer and guitarist in collaboration with Artistic Director Ilisa Rosal, to create the original music and lyrics that provide the context, narrative and emotional ambience so unique to Tennessee Williams’ works, woven into Flamenco’s wide range of rhythms, styles and infinite musical possibilities.

This groundbreaking work, inspired by the work of the most important 20th Century American playwrights, will mesmerizing audiences with its profound insight, high drama and exquisite music and dance.

“Deseo”, una obra flamenca original, inspirada en “El Tranvía Llamado Deseo” de Tennessee Williams, se estrenará este este sábado 19 de agosto a las 8 pm y domingo 20 de agosto a las 3pm en el Miami Dade County Auditorium. La obra es una producción del Ballet Flamenco La Rosa.

La obra utiliza la música y el baile flamencos como lenguaje para contar la historia icónica de una de las obras de teatro estadounidenses más aclamadas por la crítica del siglo XX.

Con algunos de los personajes más atractivos del teatro estadounidense, la obra sensual y emocional de Tennessee Williams se centra en la problemática ex maestra de escuela Blanche DuBois, quien deja el pequeño pueblo de Mississippi y se muda con su hermana, Stella Kowalski, y su esposo, Stanley, a Nueva Orleáns.

La coqueta presencia sureña de Blanche causa problemas a Stella y Stanley, quienes ya tienen una relación volátil. Esto prepara el escenario para un intenso drama, ya que cada uno de los personajes lucha contra sus demonios y lucha por escapar del mundo que los rodea, en una violenta tormenta de sueños frustrados, poesía, amor, pasión, ilusión y crueldad.

The love for music, and the desire to be an informer brought us to the world of entertainment. We have gradually built on a mission that has been goal in life: bringing Latin music to US masses. In 1999 our editor, Kike Posada, was selected “an influential personality in the realm of music for the 21st century” by The Miami Herald. He also received the ASCAP Ampt award for his support to Latin music and the prestigious Orquidea Award as a Colombian talent. He has an extensive professional experience as a journalist, radio programmer, music critic, member of NARAS and LARAS (Grammy). BOOM created the first radio program specialized in Latin alternative music in the United States, (see Billboard magazine 11/14/93.) Posada beginnings as a journalist took place in Bogota, at the Xavier University. There, he became the official voice of the station. Then became a record label executive. Managed the international market for Universal Music (formerly Polygram) Moving to the US in 1992, joined EMI-Capitol Records as South East Coast Promoter. But his dream of publishing a magazine, came true in 1996 (BOOM), and hasn’t stopped publishing ever since.
