The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation announced today that applications are officially open for its 2019 Research and Preservation Grant Program. This program provides grants to music institutions, musicologists, researchers, nonprofit organizations, and individuals around the world who are enhancing and preserving Latin music heritage.

Grants offered by the Foundation fall into one of two categories:

  • Research Grants which fund projects focused on historical research, folklore, and anthropology of Latin music genres.
  • Preservation Grants which support projects aiming to archive and preserve the heritage of Latin music

Applications from qualified candidates for the above will be reviewed by a committee of experts from Latin America, the Iberian Peninsula, and the United States. Four applicants will be bestowed with a grant that has a maximum value of $5,000.

“The Foundation’s goal continues to be the advancement of Latin music through our various programs, and these grants provide valuable assistance to the recipients and their music and cultural endeavors,” said Manolo Diaz, Senior Vice President of the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation. “We are proud that the 2019 grants will bring us up to almost $100,000 USD in the total awarded – including past recipients, some of which have been nominated for a Latin GRAMMY.”

In addition to these grants, the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation’s commitment to promoting international awareness and appreciation for Latin music includes awarding several scholarships throughout the year. To date, 156 scholarships have been awarded, totaling $3.4 million USD to help students with financial constraints fund their studies.

La Fundación Cultural Latin GRAMMY anunció hoy que abrió oficialmente su convocatoria de solicitudes al Programa de Subvenciones de Investigación y Preservación de 2019. Este programa otorga subvenciones a instituciones de música, musicólogos, investigadores y organizaciones sin fines de lucro y personas particulares en todo el mundo que realzan y preservan el patrimonio de la música latina.

La Fundación ofrece subvenciones en dos categorías:

  • Subvenciones de Investigación, que financian proyectos que se centran en la investigación histórica, el folclor y la antropología de géneros de música latina.
  • Subvenciones de Preservación, que apoyan proyectos que tienen como propósito documentar y preservar el patrimonio de la música latina.

Un comité de expertos de Latinoamérica, la península Ibérica y Estados Unidos examinará las solicitudes de candidatos que reúnen los requisitos para las subvenciones arriba mencionadas. Cuarto de ellos recibirán una subvención con un valor máximo de $5,000.

“El objetivo de la Fundación sigue siendo promover la música latina por medio de diversos programas, y estas subvenciones ofrecen asistencia valiosa a los proyectos musicales y culturales de los beneficiarios”, dijo Manolo Díaz, vicepresidente senior de la Fundación Cultural Latin GRAMMY. “Nos enorgullece que las subvenciones de 2019 harán que el total otorgado hasta ahora ascienda a casi $100,000 USD lo que incluye algunos beneficiarios que han llegado a ser nominados para el Latin GRAMMY”.

Además de estas subvenciones, durante todo el año la Fundación Cultural Latin GRAMMY demuestra su compromiso de promover la difusión y el reconocimiento de la música latina a nivel internacional a través de becas universitarias. Hasta la fecha, se han otorgado 156 becas por un total de $3.4 millones USD para ayudar a estudiantes con limitaciones económicas a financiar sus estudios.
