René Pérez Joglar, (also known as Residente), today announced the world premiere of the music video for his song “Guerra” from his first solo album – alongside the launch of a new, eponymous project aimed at promoting peace and raising awareness about the victims of conflict across the globe. The new music video for “Guerra” premiered on Thursday, August 17th, 2017 at 11:59 PM on the official Residente YouTube channel and will mark the launch of the extended “Guerra” project, which will include new digital, TV and experiential content.
The “Guerra” music video was directed by Pérez Joglar, marking his third self-directed music video after “Somos Anormales” and “Desencuentro” premiered earlier this year. It was filmed in Spain and on-site at the Zahle refugee camp: An informal camp on the Syrian/Lebanese border that is home to over 250 refugees fleeing the war in Syria. It stars actors including Jan Cornet (The Skin I Live In) Unax Ugalde (Alatriste) and Paco Leon (Kiki, Love to Love) alongside real victims of war & refugees fleeing the conflict in Syria. The music video was produced by La Tara (Puerto Rico) Deseif (Spain) and Clandestino productions (Lebanon) with Santiago “Chago” Benet serving as Director of Photography.
Speaking about the music video, Residente said: “With this video of the song “Guerra” I try to describe the cycle of war itself. The invader storms in, people suffer first hand from the attacks and the abuse, there are those who fight and resist the attack and those refugees who escape from war. Meanwhile, we sit by comfortably in our homes, totally unaware of the true harshness of war. In today’s industry that only churns out dance music – including some of my own tracks – it is vital for me as an artist to reserve space for topics that are this relevant and necessary.”
The “Guerra” project is centered around the “Guerra” song and music video. The song was produced by Residente & Trooko (Jeff Peñalva) and recorded in the war-torn Caucasus region, and features musicians from opposing factions of the recent war between Georgia, Russia in South Ossetia. The full project will grow to include a series of new content, experiences and partners, It will be announced and rolled out across platforms throughout the months of August and September 2017. René Pérez Joglar, mejor conocido como Residente, anunció el estreno mundial de su nuevo video “Guerra” tema incluido en su primer álbum como solista. El estreno del video va acompañado por el lanzamiento de un nuevo proyecto cuyo propósito es promover la paz y concientizar a cerca de las víctimas de conflictos alrededor del mundo. El nuevo video clip de “Guerra” estrenó el jueves 17 de agosto, 2017 a las 11:59 PM en el canal oficial de YouTube de Residente y marca el lanzamiento del proyecto extendido de “Guerra”, el cual incluye contenido digital, TV y experiencias.
El video musical “Guerra” fue dirigido por el propio Pérez Joglar, convirtiéndose en el tercer video musical dirigido por Residente luego de “Somos Anormales” y “Desencuentro.” Filmado en España y en el campamento de Refugiados Zahlee; un campamento informal en el borde entre Syria y el Líbano donde viven sobre 250 refugiados de Syria. El video es protagonizado por los actores Jan Cornet (The Skin I Live in), Una Ugalde (Alatriste) y Paco Leon (Kiki, Love to Love) junto a víctimas reales de guerra y refugiados del conflicto de Syria. Hablando del video musical y del proyecto Residente expresó: “Con este video del tema “Guerra” relato el ciclo de la misma. La llegada del invasor, la gente que sufre en carne propia los ataques, la gente que resiste luchando para defenderse de estos ataques, los refugiados que huyen de la guerra y nosotros los cómodos que estamos totalmente enajenados a la dura realidad de la guerra. Hoy en día dentro de un circuito que promueve solo canciones para bailar las cuales yo también tengo, es para mí vital como artista también sacar el espacio para promover este tipo de temas tan relevantes y necesarios”
El proyecto “Guerra” está centrado alrededor de la canción y video musical. La canción fue producida por Residente & Trooko (Jeff Peñalva) y grabada por Residente en la zona de guerra la región de Caucasus, y cuenta con la participación especial de músicos de la oposición de la guerra reciente en Georgia, Rusia y el Sur de Ossetia. El proyecto completo incluye nuevo contenido y experiencias, el cual será anunciado pronto y estará disponible en todas las plataformas durante los meses de agosto y septiembre 2017.
