Panteón Rococó released today their new single “Tonantzin”, now available on all digital platforms following the announcement of the first 15 dates of their US & Canada tour, which begins on June 16 at the Victoria Ska Fest.
Tonantzin, the title of the new single by Panteón Rococó, is the name of the Mother Goddess or Mother Earth in some pre-Hispanic cultures. It is a powerful track that tells an almost surreal story from ages ago, as told by ancestors “antes que todo acabara, antes que todo muriera” [before everything ended, before everything died]. A story that becomes a prayer and an offering for Tonantzin.
The requinto guitar that crescendos towards the track’s climax and the music that fuses pre-Hispanic instruments and contemporary sounds make “Tonantzin” a promising track that will surely become another classic in their live concerts. This is the first track of the upcoming material that the group will be unveiling over the next few months.
Year after year, Panteón Rococó tours countries that have seen them grow, not only as a band, but also as individuals. Nine musicians that began to leave Mexico at a very young age, venturing into new languages and cultures to introduce their music, songs, and ska fusion that is contagious on stage not only because of the solidity of their unique sound, but also because of the celebration that invites each of their fans to be a part of. The audience joins in this celebration, becoming a reflection of the band’s energy throughout their songs and energy.
The public of the ‘Panteones’ is as diverse as the band and as their music; they have stepped on all kinds of stages, paving the way in territories where Latin American rock is barely strengthening their markets. They have been able to be inclusive in everything they do musically, both on record and live.
Panteón Rococó did not arrive at the level they are now due to a single success, but to many type of successes: they have filled arenas with a capacity of more than 20,000 people, they have toured Europe on stages of great importance as headliners in festivals, they have extended the dates of their already long tours, and they continue to summon more and more people to each of their visits. Success in their songs, success in their massive live concerts that invite them to continuously come back again, and success in their honesty as a group. Growth has been continuous and solid across all territories.
This is a high point for Panteón Rococó’s career, with a first quarter of the year in performances at two of the biggest festivals in Latin America [Vive Latino & Pa’l Norte Fest] as co-headliners reaching maximum capacity, and in the midst of a creative moment of recording their tenth album, where there is no leader but an artistic democracy in which everyone contributes musically and as humans injecting a dose of energy.
The group from Mexico is an emblem not only of Mexican ska. With them there are no walls [No Wall Tour 2017], they are clear about their mission [“Peace Army” Ejército de Paz Tour 2015], and they have grown and matured musically and as a group [“XX Years” XX Años Tour 2016]. Their songs and performances are a representation and a feeling of more than one generation that saw them be born in the middle of the Zapatista movement in the mid 90’s, and that despite the difficulties, their hope and resistance continue.

Panteón Rococó lanzó hoy su nuevo sencillo “Tonantzin”, disponible ya en todas las plataformas digitales y hace unos días dio anuncio a través de sus redes sociales de las primeras 15 fechas de su gira por EEUU & Canadá, que comienza este 16 de Junio con el Victoria Ska Fest .
Tonantzin es el nombre de la Diosa Madre o la Madre Tierra en algunas culturas prehispánicas, y es el título del nuevo sencillo de Panteón Rococó. Un poderoso track que relata una historia casi surrealista de mucho tiempo atrás contada desde los ancestros “antes que todo acabara, antes que todo muriera”. Una historia que se vuelve una oración, una plegaria y ofrenda para Tonantzin
Los requintos de guitarra que van en aumento hacia el clímax en el tema, la música que fusiona instrumentos prehispánicos y sonidos contemporáneos hacen de “Tonantzin” un tema que promete volverse otro clásico para los conciertos en vivo. Este es el primer tema del nuevo material que el grupo ira develando a lo largo de los siguientes meses.
Año con año Panteón Rococó hace su recorrido en gira en países que los ha visto crecer no sólo como banda, sino además como individuos. 9 músicos que empezaron a salir de México desde muy jóvenes, aventurándose en nuevos idiomas y culturas para llevar su música, su canciones, su ska fusión que contagia en el escenario no solo por la solidez de su sonido sino además por la fiesta a la que invitan a ser parte a cada uno de los asistentes. Y los asistentes se unen a esa fiesta volviéndose parte de esa celebración que a través de sus canciones invita además a la reflexión.
El público de los ‘Panteones’ es diverso como ellos y su música, han pisado todo tipo de escenarios abriendo plazas en territorios donde el rock Latinoramericano está apenas fortaleciendo el mercado y han sabido ser incluyentes en todo lo que hacen musicalmente en disco y en directo.
Panteón Rococó no llegó al lugar donde está por un solo éxito sino por muchos: ha llenado arenas con capacidad de más de 20,000 personas, girado en Europa en escenarios de mayor importancia como titulares de festivales; aumentado fechas a sus largas giras y convocado cada vez más personas en cada una de sus visitas. Éxito en sus canciones, éxito en sus explosivos conciertos en vivo que invitan a regresar una y otra vez; y éxito en su honestidad como grupo. El crecimiento ha sido constante y sólido en todos los territorios.
Para Panteón Rococó éste es un momento álgido en su carrera, con un primer trimestre del año en presentaciones en dos de los más grandes festivales de Latinoamérica [Vive Latino & Pa’l Norte Fest] como co-headliners a su máxima capacidad; en medio de un momento creativo de la grabación de su décimo álbum en donde no hay un líder sino una democracia artística en las que todos aportan musicalmente y como humanos inyectando una dosis de energía.
