NEGRONI’S TRiO  Releases Its Tenth Studio Album ACÚSTICO

The three-time Latin GRAMMY®-nominated group NEGRONI’s TRiO today releases its 10th studio album Acústico in physical and digital formats.

After enjoying a phenomenal response to its previous album New Era (2017) which added a modern and creative touch to jazz, pop and Latin classics, NEGRONI’s TRiO returns with an album comprising eight originals (including a bonus track) and three covers.

The musical chemistry between the group’s founder and pianist, José Negroni, his son and drummer Nomar Negroni, and the acoustic bass player Josh Allen, is palpable on this album that treats us to Latin jazz in its purest essence.

All of the songs of Acústico can be considered instrumentals, though the original song “No Me Voy De Aquí” (I’m Not Leaving Here), incorporates chants that allude to Puerto Rico and its people.

The covers on this album are “María Cervantes,” written by the late Puerto Rican Latin jazz pioneer Noro Morales; the 1941 romantic jazz hit “I Hear a Rhapsody”; and “Tempus Fugit” by the legendary Harlem pianist Bud Powell.

Bonus track “Monica’s Drums” showcases Nomar’s spellbinding skills, as he delights us with his no-holds-barred drum solos.

Since its founding in 2002, NEGRONI’s TRiO has toured Europe, Asia and the Americas, earning praise from fans and critics for its classic lyricism and innovative improvisations.

Born and raised on the southern coast of Puerto Rico, José Negroni is a pianist, composer and arranger who created this trio in the image of his clear musical vision.

Beginning his career as a music teacher, Negroni spent his early musical years educating promising talents in the world of music and later developing and strengthening his musical chops as musical director for many Latin Pop artists. Today, teaching and mentoring continue to be part of his daily life as he devotes time between concert tours to give back to the music-education community.

Together with his son and protégé Nomar Negroni, a graduate of the Berklee College of Music; and Josh Allen, a University of Miami Frost School of Music graduate, NEGRONI’s TRiO mesmerizes audiences with its electrifying command of the stage and its unique brand of Latin jazz.

Their previous studio set New Era has become one of Spotify’s most popular jazz albums, racking up over 2.6 million streams worldwide.

Now with Acústico, NEGRONI’s TRiO invites us to take an even deeper exploration into their musical universe.

The love for music, and the desire to be an informer brought us to the world of entertainment. We have gradually built on a mission that has been goal in life: bringing Latin music to US masses. In 1999 our editor, Kike Posada, was selected “an influential personality in the realm of music for the 21st century” by The Miami Herald. He also received the ASCAP Ampt award for his support to Latin music and the prestigious Orquidea Award as a Colombian talent. He has an extensive professional experience as a journalist, radio programmer, music critic, member of NARAS and LARAS (Grammy). BOOM created the first radio program specialized in Latin alternative music in the United States, (see Billboard magazine 11/14/93.) Posada beginnings as a journalist took place in Bogota, at the Xavier University. There, he became the official voice of the station. Then became a record label executive. Managed the international market for Universal Music (formerly Polygram) Moving to the US in 1992, joined EMI-Capitol Records as South East Coast Promoter. But his dream of publishing a magazine, came true in 1996 (BOOM), and hasn’t stopped publishing ever since.
