Currently on tour, the band Making Movies has released their lead politically empowered single “Clandestino”, featuring Mr. Philthy, exclusively on Uforia today, where the song is available to download for free before its official release on November 6th. “Clandestino”, a Manu Chao cover, will be included on their upcoming EP of protest songs “You Are Another Me” to be released on December 1st.

The greatest music in the world is music speaking out against oppression.” Mentions Enrique Chi, frontman of Making Movies; “Whether it’s the blues, afro-cumbia, appalachian folk songs or a mexican huapango the human spirit consistently defies oppression and creates beauty out of it”

Making Movies features Mr. Philthy from the bay area band SuenaTron who says “Clandestino” has always been an important song in my life. The song pretty much hits the nail on the head on what it is to be an undocumented immigrant. I always see a their struggles and the hardships that come along with being undocumented. It is an honor to collaborate with a band such as Making Movies who isn’t just a band playing songs… they use their voices as artists to talk about important issues. I feel it is super important for artists to shed light on these subjects because there is no greater force to unite people than through art and music.”

This particular collaboration with Mr. Philthy from the bay area band SuenaTron, includes an intimate and relatable intro to the track; it is a recording of the band getting pulled over last month and been questioned by a policeman.

“You Are Another Me” will be the 4th side of the double vinyl release of the band’s critically acclaimed 2nd album I Am Another You, which was produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos. Released in May 2017, I Am Another You peaked at #3 on the Latin Billboard charts and #8 on the World Music Charts.

The band is currently on their 22-date Immigrants Are Beautiful Tour, a tour that welcomes DACA Recipients to receive a complimentary ticket in hopes to continue creating a solidarity space to celebrate cultural diversity. In previous years, the quartet has toured with Arcade Fire, Thievery Corporation, Cold War Kids, Los Lobos, Ozomatli, Tennis, Sergio Mendoza of Calexico, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Hurray for the Riff Raff.

Making Movies is an American rock and roll band that captivates audiences with their interweaving of Afro-Latino rhythms and psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll. The band was formed in Kansas City in 2009 by singer/guitarist Enrique Chi and his brother, bassist Diego Chi, joined by percussionist Juan-Carlos Chaurand and his brother, drummer Andres Chaurand.
