The Los Angeles based, bilingual band Love Star released worldwide their first single entitled “Sola” of their upcoming album “Espectro”. This beautiful song has already been awarded as one of the finalist songs at The John Lennon Songwriting Contest this year and is already making waves in radio. The music video produced, filmed and edited by the electro-pop duo Starla (Adriana Fernandez) in vocals and keyboards and The Doctor (Will Alves) in guitars and background vocals, will premiere in a few more weeks.
“This song talks about someone who is coming to the realization that she can be happy alone”, says Adriana. “During the song, there is an internal battle going on that’s fueled by the ‘beliefs brought by our society’ of what the perfect life should be, like by finding their prince charming or the perfect missing ‘half’. The demons and monsters she battles in her mind are symbolic of these prior beliefs. But we can’t waste our life away searching and waiting for the perfect person to come along.”
The band formed in 2009 and debuted with their self released EP titled ‘Happiness.’ It was well received and it gathered excellent reviews by several music blogs. All four songs from that EP still continue to be played on various college, independent, online and specialty shows in major radios across the US, Mexico and Latin America. People En Español magazine described their sound as “Happiness in musical code” and as “a kind of retro alternative pop that refuses to be blue” by iTunes.
Love Star’s upcoming album Espectro was produced by 16 time Grammy winning producer Thom Russo and will be released in May.

Love Star, la conocida banda electro-pop bilingüe de Los Ángeles, lanzó a nivel mundial “Sola”, el primer sencillo de su anticipado álbum de estudio titulado “Espectro” y que dará a luz este próximo mes de mayo, bajo la producción de Thom Russo, uno de los productores mas premiados al Latin Grammy en la historia.
“Sola”, es un hermoso tema y una de las canciones finalistas en el prestigioso Concurso de Composición John Lennon 2015, y actualmente sonando en radio tanto en México como EEUU. El video que será estrenado a finales del mes, y como todos los anteriores videos del grupo, fue filmado y producido por Love Star, el duo compuesto por Starla (Adriana Fernandez) en voz y keyboards; y The Doctor (Will Alves) en las guitarras y coros.
“Esta canción habla de alguien que está llegando a la conclusión de que puede ser feliz sola” dice Adriana acerca del primer sencillo. “Durante la canción, hay una batalla interna en curso que está alimentada por las ‘creencias traídas por nuestra sociedad’ de cómo debe de ser la vida perfecta con el ‘Príncipe azul’. Los demonios y monstruos contra los que ella lucha en su mente son simbólicos de estas creencias anteriores. Pero no podemos gastar nuestra vida en busca de la persona perfecta para seguir adelante”.
El grupo formado en el 2009, hizo su debut con el EP titulado “Hapiness”, el cual fue lanzado de manera independiente y bien recibido, acumulando excelentes reseñas de múltiples blogs. Todos los cuatro temas de este EP siguen aun en rotación en varias estaciones de colegio, online y shows especializados de todo EEUU y México. La Revista People En Español describio el sonido de Love Star como “Felicidad en código musical” y como “Una especie de retro-alternative-pop que rehusa ser depresivo“, por iTunes.
El album “Espectro”, será lanzado a finales de Mayo.
