Award-winning Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Kany García presents one of the most heartfelt songs of her career, “Aquí” (Here) featuring the Argentine singer-songwriter Abel Pintos. This is the third single from her fourth studio album Limonada (Lemonade).
The music video is slated to premiere today on Univision’s afternoon news and entertainment program Primer Impacto and was filmed in Uruguay. Its digital debut will take place tomorrow, October 14th, on VEVO.
“Aquí” is a vivid portrait of the emptiness that one feels when you suddenly lose a loved one, leaving you without closure. As the lyrics in Spanish say, “Ever since you left me without taking your belongings, you went on a one-way trip. Come back, we owe each other a kiss.”
Kany García, who co-wrote “Aquí” with Pablo Preciado and Román Torres, members of the Mexican group Matisse, says she was thinking of people who have suffered a loss: “We’ve all known someone who has lost someone special in their life. We know that it hurts deeply.”
With his sensibility and vocal power, Abel Pintos is the perfect duet partner on this song.
Released on May 20, Limonada debuted at #1 on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart, which tracks sales in the United States and Puerto Rico. So far, the album has produced two hit singles, the joyful pop-rock of “Perfecto Para Mi” (Perfect For Me) and the unabashed power ballad “Cómo Decirle” (How To Tell Him), co-written by Kany and her renowned fellow Puerto Rican artist Tommy Torres, along with album producer David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Lana Del Rey).
Known for some of the most iconic hits of the past decade such as “Hoy Ya Me Voy” (Today I Leave), “Que Te Vaya Mal” (I Wish You Bad Luck) and “Duele Menos” (It Hurts Less), Kany García recently gave a concert in The Bronx. Next up for Kany is her appearance at Festival People this weekend in New York, December 10th she will perform at the Miami Dade County Auditorium, and on January 28, 2017, she will perform at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

El video musical, el cual se grabó en Uruguay, será estrenado en televisión hoy en el programa de noticias y entretenimiento de Univisión, Primer Impacto. El lanzamiento en plataforma digital será mañana,14 de octubre por VEVO.
“Aquí” es un retrato claro del vacío que se siente cuando un ser querido parte inesperadamente, sin decir adiós. “Desde que te me fuiste sin maletas, un viaje que es de ida y nada más. Vuelve, que un beso nos quedó pendiente”, dice parte de la letra de esta canción.
Kany García, quien compuso “Aquí” con Pablo Preciado y Román Torres —integrantes del grupo mexicano Matisse— afirma que lo escribió pensando en las vivencias de personas que han sufrido una pérdida: “Todos hemos conocido a alguien que ha perdido a un ser especial en su vida, sabemos que esto siempre deja una gran huella y una herida profunda”.
Con su sensibilidad y su poder interpretativo, Abel Pintos resulta ser el colaborador perfecto para este dueto.
Lanzado el 20 de mayo, Limonada alcanzó el número uno (en formato físico y digital) en los listados Latin Albums y Latin Pop Albums de Billboard por sus altas ventas en Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico. A la fecha, de este disco se han desprendido dos exitosos sencillos: “Perfecto Para Mí”, un tema pop-rock alegre, y “Cómo Decirle”, una balada apasionada escrita por Kany en co-autoría con su renombrado compatriota, Tommy Torres, y el productor del disco, David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Lana Del Rey).
