Visionary singer-songwriter-guitarist José González has united with iconic German DJ/producer DJ Koze for an exclusive reimagining of “Tjomme,” featured on González’s acclaimed new album, LOCAL VALLEY. “Tjomme (DJ Koze Remix)” premieres today at all DSPs and streaming services.
”Tjomme is a song about hearsay and dudes (tjomme in Swedish slang),” says González. “Overconfident doomsday dudes and the dudes that follow.”«I tried to transform the soul of this song to the dancefloor,” says DJ Koze. “A dancefloor without pressure and anxiety. A dancefloor on which I would love to lose myself with eyes wide closed.”
LOCAL VALLEY is available now via Mute on CD, standard black vinyl, limited edition colored vinyl, and at all digital platforms. An assortment of exclusive bundles featuring such limited-edition extras as signed art prints, an original portrait painting, and LOCAL VALLEY tote bag are available at the official Jose González webstore.

PRAISE FOR LOCAL VALLEY:
“With LOCAL VALLEY, González’s music – defined by artful beats and poetic lyrics – evolves into something lighthearted and wonderful, yet still masterful and epic, sometimes delightfully unexpected. As with all he does, José’s sincerity shines through.” – SPIN
“The Swedish songwriter’s latest is a record that stretches the sound and focus of what has been an impressive body of work dating back to his 2003 solo debut…one of González’s most diverse albums, topically, finding his focus moving from internal reflection, to the more sensual, to the more playful and loving, to even the words of others.” – AQUARIUM DRUNKARD
“Beneath its quiet, contemplative veneer, González goes to deeper depths by asking often unfathomable questions that are now newly relevant in today’s troubled, tumultuous environs… Ambient sounds, synths, and teeming textures fill the void, ringing with an assurance that’s melodic, meticulous, and existential in voice and vision.”
– AMERICAN SONGWRITER
“Arguably his most energetic solo album… the deceptive complexity of his songs and arrangements, and the ways in which his songwriting incorporates the patterns and textures of electronic music, makes some of his songs almost ambient, with a near-subconscious secondary layer of hypnotic repetition and atmospherics.” – VARIETY
“A quintessential González record, simple and patient in its presentation with universal humanist themes and an understated appeal…It’s the consistency and quality of his work that continue to impress, and the timeless LOCAL VALLEY slots easily into his catalog as if it’s always been there.” – ALLMUSIC
“González shows his masterful talents here – and the world’s a gentler, more beautiful place because of it.” – RELIX
“With his thoughtful lyricism and gentle delivery, González’s music feels like it holds an answer; it feels like a resolution.” – FLOOD“The sound of LOCAL VALLEY is a logical next step for González… A rich and dimensional portrait of a songwriter whose artistic vision is delivered with a rare sense of humility and grace.” – ACOUSTIC GUITAR“González has seemingly never stopped expanding his musical horizons, pulling in Asian scales, sub-Saharan guitar styles and, in his listening, Ghanaian highlife, Nigerian afrobeat and more. However, it feels as if LOCAL VALLEY is perhaps the most varied, playful and successful attempt he has made at knitting it together, powered, as ever, by his unique and ever-evolving magpie-classical guitar style. González’s masterstroke is using this rich, tapestry of global influences to highlight humanity’s preoccupation with tiny rivalries in the face of universal challenges.” – GUITAR WORLD
