Los Angeles, CA. (Friday, September 28th, 2018) Jackie Cruz, the Dominican–American actress, singer and activist known for her role as Marisol “Flaca” Gonzales on the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black, releases today the video for the song ‘La Hora Loca’ (The crazy hour), her critically acclaimed debut single released last month.
The video, directed by Yellow Nguyen and shot in beautiful locations is a colorful folkloric journey through Jackie’s roots and culture; an homage to her country with influences from the great Carmen Miranda that Jackie made her own. This audiovisual experience and the energy it captures is best described by the title of the song ‘La Hora Loca’, a reference to the Latin American tradition where party attendants, in the middle of the night, take extravagant measures to re-ignite the energy and enthusiasm of the festivities.
“The video is a day dream. I got the idea because I did work as a waitress and I had this dream of being a performer, but I was stuck in this job where I didn’t belong. It felt so amazing to live out my fantasy in my music video”- Jackie Cruz
‘La Hora Loca’ was co-written by Jackie Cruz and Feefa, a producer she credits for helping her find her true musical sound.
“I wanted to do the Spanglish thing and no one knew why. No one listened to me and he heard me and we did not stop listening to all the music I grew up listening to. Feefa was the first person who actually listened to me and it worked out perfect” said Jackie.
The name of her upcoming album will be Hija de Chavez (Jackie’s legal last name), and the talented artist promises a very personal album that will cater to her feelings and who she is. Music is therapy for Jackie, and unlike acting, a way to show her true self.

‘La Hora Loca’ fue co-escrita por Jackie Cruz y Feefa, el productor al que ella describe como el responsable de ayudarla a encontrar su sonido musical.
“Yo quería hacer la cuestión del spanglish y nadie entendió el por qué. Nadie me escuchó excepto él, y no dejamos de escuchar toda la música con la que yo crecí. Feefa fue la primera persona que realmente escuchó lo que yo tenía que decir y todo terminó funcionando a la perfección” Jackie Cruz
El nombre de su futuro álbum será Hija de Chavez (el apellido legal de Jackie), y la talentosa artista promete que será un álbum muy personal que primero que nada tendrá que satisfacer sus sentimientos y su personalidad. La música es una terapia para Jackie Cruz, y a diferencia de la actuación, es una forma de mostrar quien realmente es.
