The new album by Latin Grrammy winners Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas (IKV) is titled L.H.O.N. (La Humanidad o Nosotros – Humanity or Us). Its fusions of rock, funk, soul and rap could only come from this renowned Argentine duo. It comprises 13 tracks filled with engrossing soundscapes and memorable lyrics.
Two outstanding collaborators join IKV on L.H.O.N. – the multiple Grammy winner Natalia Lafourcade on “Ey Dios” and the American R&B star Miguel on “Estrella Fugaz”.
The members of IKV – Dante Spinetta and Emmanuel Horvilleur – have returned to their roots and handled all the production on this album, just as they did on their classic 1990s records “Chaco” – “Versus” and “Leche”. L.H.O.N. was mixed in Los Angeles by the virtuoso engineer Rafa Sardina.
Taking on an old-school warmth, it was recorded on analog reel-to-reel tape. The atmosphere in the studio was electric, as their band joined them for sessions at La Diosa Salvaje and Avesexua Studios. String arrangments were recorded by the Prague Philharmonic and conducted by Claudio Cardone, who worked for many years with Dante Spinetta’s late father, the Argentine rock pioneer Luis Alberto Spinetta. The horns were arranged by Michael B. Nelson, leader of Minneapolis’ Hornheads, who have recorded and toured with Prince.
The first preview of L.H.O.N. was the lyric video of “Gallo Negro” (Black Rooster), which in Argentina alone surpassed 1 million views on IKV’s VEVO channel in just five days. The group followed that up with a world-class short film for “Gallo Negro”, which lives up to IKV’s reputation for cutting-edge visual artistry. It also received a nomination at the Berlin Music Video Awards.
“Sigue” (Continue) is the album’s first official single. It quickly became a popular digital download and a staple at radio in Argentina, taking its place among the group’s classic songs.

Fiel al estilo de Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas, en “L.H.O.N.” encontramos un disco que fusiona el Rock, Funk, Soul, Rap, mostrando una evolución y maduración en los sonidos y la lírica de las 13 canciones que lo componen.
Cuenta además con dos grandes colaboraciones internacionales: la multipremiada ganadora del Grammy, Natalia Lafourcade en “Ey Dios” y el reconocido cantante de R&B, Miguel en “Estrella Fugaz”.
En este nuevo álbum Dante Spinetta y Emmanuel Horvilleur vuelven a sus raíces y toman el control total de la producción, como en sus primeros discos “Chaco” – “Versus” – “Leche”. Fue mezclado en Los Ángeles por el reconocido ingeniero Rafa Sardina.
El álbum fue grabado de manera analógica, en cinta abierta y con mucha energía emocional, junto a su banda en los estudios La Diosa Salvaje y Avesexua. Con arreglos de cuerdas de Claudio Cardone, quien trabajó muchos años junto a Luis Alberto Spinetta, grabadas por la Orquesta Filarmónica de Praga. Los vientos fueron grabados en Minneapolis por los Horn Heads (Prince), quienes fueran la sesión de Prince, y arreglados por Michael B Nelson.
El primer adelanto de “L.H.O.N.” fue el video letras de “Gallo Negro” que tuvo una respuesta masiva de sus fans, superando en tan solo 5 días el millón de views, una cifra notable en Argentina. También se realizó un Short Film de “Gallo Negro”, una súper producción de nivel internacional y vanguardista fiel al estilo de IKV que mezcla la música y el cine revolucionando el concepto audiovisual en la escena musical logrando una nominación en los premios “Berlin Music Video Awards”.
