Anticipating the announcement of a series of special performances alongside the acclaimed Mexican group Café Tacvba, the all female mariachi Flor de Toloache is back!

Premiering this Friday, September 15th at 7pm EST via Facebook live, “Dulces Recuerdos” celebrates all those endless summer vibes!

In 1986 Linda Ronstadt released the hit Canciones De Mi Padre, turning a huge new audience onto mariachi’s deep Mexican soul, and re-affirming women could sing it as potently as dudes. Recently, Flor de Toloache has been doing the same – in part by touring and recording with Dan Auerbach’s side project the Arcs, a step up from the New York group’s early days busking on subways. Their latest LP mixes a handful of English lyrics and marvelously unconventional harmonies into traditional arrangements for violin, trumpet, guitarron and vihuela. One listen to Mireya Ramos’ slaying vocals on “Regresa Yá,” and you’ll never think of mariachi as tame tableside entertainment again. Will Hermes” – Rolling Stone

People are loving this Kate Spade ad featuring mariachi. The Kate Spade campaign featuring model Fernanda Ly has released their second ad. This time, Ly boards a train in New York City when suddenly the subway car gets filled with music. Now, it isn’t your typical guitar or singer making the music on the train, but Flor de Toloache, NYC’s only all-female mariachi band. With their gorgeous mariachi outfits, bold red lips and powerful canto, they bring this ad to life.” – MITÚ

“These mariachis have moxie. They don’t just sing; they could blast through mountains with their wails and gritos (shouts), and melt glaciers with the warmth of their gorgeous harmonies (figuratively speaking, of course). And they don’t just play mariachi. Flor de Toloache also weaves an arsenal of styles into its new release, Las Caras Lindas (The Pretty Faces): jazz, classical, salsa, cumbia, folk, rock, country and hip-hop”. – NPR
