A multi-national group that has always maintained its good-natured, guy-next-door charisma, the award-winning pop-tropical trio Bacilos today releases its fourth studio album ¿Dónde Nos Quedamos? in physical and digital formats.
Bacilos mixes wry humor with melancholy, leaving its feet firmly planted on the ground while keeping an eye on the moon. The group’s songbook includes anthems such as “Caraluna,” “Mi Primer Millón” and “Tabaco y Chanel” that we know by heart.
Today, Bacilos releases ¿Dónde Nos Quedamos?, an album filled with nuance and poetry in a short attention-span world where music no longer reaches us like a message in a bottle, but is everywhere on-demand, like the air we breathe.
Amidst these changes, Bacilos has managed to stay true to its roots while sharing innovative sounds with its fans, thanks to its inspired recent work with the GRAMMY®- winning producer Andrés Castro.
Colombian Jorge Villamizar, the lead vocalist, guitarist and main songwriter of Bacilos, describes the new material with his characteristic sincerity: “Where did we leave off? What was the last thing we said? OK, let’s continue, here are 10 more songs. I hope that they please you, accompany you and inspire you. I hope that some part of it catches on in your heart and follows you around in the good times and the bad, like our music has done in the past. And I hope there will be more and more, and that the silences no longer last 10 years.”
The first single from ¿Dónde Nos Quedamos? took the group’s fans by surprise. Released in September 2017, “Por Hacerme El Bueno” put an updated, danceable spin on the music of Bacilos, while featuring vivid lyrics. The song’s official music video, directed by Gustavo Carballo and filmed in Miami, has received over 7.3 million views on the group’s VEVO channel.
Andre Lopes, the trio’s bass player and a Brazil native, is overjoyed to be back in his dream job: “Having a second chance in life is rare, so we are enjoying it to the max. It’s incredible, working again with my dear friends and making music that we love. With this album, we rescued the Bacilos of 10 years ago and we place it in 2018. We incorporate cutting-edge musical influences without losing the original essence. This album is totally Bacilos, and it contains a little of what we were and what we are.”
June 2018 marked the release of the album’s second single, “Adicto a Ti”. Directed by Rubén Martín (Axel, De La Tierra) in Buenos Aires, the music video of “Adicto a Ti” features appearances by many of the group’s fans. A visual delight, it combines elements of psychology, such as the famous Rorschach Test, along with comic-acting turns by the musicians, culminating in a musical performance where the guys lead the audience in some whimsical choreography during the song’s rhythmic breakdown.
José Javier “J.J.” Freire, a Puerto Rico native and the group’s drummer, notes that he is proud of ¿Dónde Nos Quedamos? and the way in which it redefines Bacilos: “In addition to being a big challenge and an adventure, this new album is the best response to the question asked by the title. I’m certain that every listener will find a balanced mix between the essence of Bacilos and our musical evolution, which features up-to-date sounds and rhythms. Bacilos in 2018, a new journey.”
This week, Bacilos was in Miami giving interviews to local and international media. Bacilos will launch an extensive international tour that will take it through year’s end, with stops in Miami, Europe, and Latin America (complete list of dates below).

Bacilos mezcla el buen humor con la melancolía, y con los pies siempre bien puestos en la tierra mientras sigue viendo la luna. Su obra discográfica incluye himnos como “Caraluna”, “Mi Primer Millón” y “Tabaco y Chanel” que todos nos sabemos de memoria.
Hoy, Bacilos presenta ¿Dónde Nos Quedamos?, un álbum lleno de matices y de poesía para un mundo donde nuestra capacidad de atención es más corta que nunca y la música no llega envuelta como un mensaje en la botella sino como el aire que respiramos.
Sin embargo, Bacilos ha encontrado la forma de mantenerse fiel a sus raíces y a la vez compartir nuevos sonidos con su público, gracias a su arduo trabajo con el productor ganador del GRAMMY Andrés Castro.

El primer sencillo de ¿Dónde Nos Quedamos? tomó a sus seguidores por sorpresa. “Por Hacerme El Bueno” se lanzó en septiembre 2017 y dio un toque actualizado y bailable a la música de Bacilos, con la letra descriptiva que siempre ha sido sello de este grupo. El video oficial de este tema, dirigido por Gustavo Carballo y filmado en Miami, ha superado los 7.3 millones de vistas en el canal de VEVO del trío.
Andre Lopes, bajista del trío y de origen brasileño, se expresa muy emocionado al poder reencontrarse con el trabajo de sus sueños: “Tener una segunda oportunidad en la vida es algo raro, y por eso la estamos disfrutando lo maximo. Es increíble volver a trabajar con mis queridos amigos y hacer la música que nos encanta. Con este álbum rescatamos los Bacilos de hace 10 años y los ponemos en 2018 , con las influencias musicales actuales pero sin perder la esencia original. Este álbum es totalmente Bacilos, ahí metimos un poco de todo lo que fuimos y somos…”
En junio 2018 se estrenó el segundo sencillo del álbum, “Adicto a Ti”. Dirigido por Rubén Martín (Axel, De La Tierra) en Buenos Aires, el video de “Adicto a Ti” cuenta con la participación de los seguidores del grupo. Todo un deleite visual, este video combina elementos de la psicología y el famoso test de Rorschach con actuaciones de comedia por parte de los músicos, además de una presentación musical donde los chicos imponen una divertida coreografía en la estrofa más rítmica de la canción.
José Javier Freire “J.J.”, oriundo de Puerto Rico y el baterista del grupo, afirma que se siente orgulloso de ¿Dónde Nos Quedamos? y la forma en que redefine el sonido de Bacilos para los tiempos actuales: “El nuevo álbum, además de ser un gran reto y una aventura es probablemente la mejor respuesta a la pregunta que presenta el título.
