RockFest Concerts and 105.9’s Paul & Young Ron Morning Show, presenters of the RockFest 80’s festival, are excited to announce Bret Michaels and Paul Rodgers will headline the two-day concert series. The inaugural festival will include more than 20 prominent 80’s rock music artists on two main stages, the Muscle Car Madness Car Show with a special Cobra Joe showcase, “Rock Your Locks,” an 80’s Dance Party, authentic arcade and so much more. The festival will take place at Markham Park in Sunrise, Florida on April 2nd and 3rd.
RockFest 80’s is breaking out the hairspray, leg warmers, muscle cars and all-things 80’s for a weekend of authentic blast-from-the past rock music in this multi-generational cultural celebration. The festival aims to take rockers back to the days of the Sunset Strip with artists Bret Michaels, Free – The Firm & Bad Company singer, Paul Rodgers, and Ace Frehley, former Kiss guitarist and Rock God. Additional acts include “Cinderella’s” Tom Keifer, Night Ranger, Warrant, The Romantics, John Waite, Winger, Geoff Tate, Sebastian Bach, Quiet Riot, Slaughter, Ratt, Fire House, Vixen, Lynch Mob, Trixter, Nelson and Autograph.
RockFest 80’s is thrilled to partner with Big 105.9’s Paul & Young Ron Show and iHeartRadio to elevate the rock experience.
“BIG 105.9 and the Paul & Young Ron Show are synonymous with rock music in South Florida,” says Todd Winick of iHeartMedia. “We jumped at the chance to partner with a major festival such as RockFest 80’s. Not only am I confident that this event will be a huge success, we expect it to grow over the next several years into one of the county’s premiere rock festivals.”
The full 80’s experience, including vintage beer ads, MTV media clips, pop culture footage and more will be displayed on over 30 HD screens in addition to top-of-the line production video displayed throughout the festival.
“The Paul and Young Ron show got famous throwing rock concerts at Markham Park and boy are we glad to be going back!,” says Paul Castronovo of the Paul & Young Ron show. “Rockfest 80’s” is going to be nuts. I wonder if my Members Only jacket still fits?”
The RockFest 80’s experience will offer guests more than just live performances. A blow-out 80’s Dance Party is planned to take place, sure to make you want to ‘dance with somebody’ all night long. To elevate the 80’s ambiance even more, a complete arcade, with original PacMan, Asteroids and more, will be open to all the ‘Pinball Wizards’ out there. A “Rock Your Locks” salon will provide the ladies with an opportunity to pump up the volume on their hairdos in exchange for small donation that will benefit a local charity. And of course, the weekend wouldn’t be complete without a flashback to the muscle cars of the 80’s! Muscle Car Madness Car Show with Vintage Muscle Cars curated by Cobra Joe and others will be featured during an 80’s-themed car show will take place on Saturday and Sunday as part of the festival in Markham Park.
“We are thrilled to be chosen as the venue for RockFest 80’s and will offer our highest levels of support,” says Markham Park Manager, Trevor Fell. “The staff at Markham Park always welcomes events that add culture to our community. RockFest 80’s is an event that we foresee adding vibrancy and excitement to the park for years to come.”
The full lineup of performers will be announced soon. RockFest 80’s is the first in a series of concerts that will be announced in the coming days
