“Bajos tiempos” is a word game where “Bajo” could mean Bass (low frequencies) and “tiempos” to that of a rhythm, but also refers to going through bad times. “Bajos tiempos” the new album by Panoptica Orchestra is an eclectic collection of songs composed during different periods in 6 years and where the Nortec sound (which dj-producer Roberto A. Mendoza aka Panóptica invented as part of the Tijuana collective) goes into the background leaving only reminiscences in the sound of the tuba and accordion retaining his origins of the north of Mexico, now influences of electronica and various styles of South American music, jazz and even rhythms of India and the Balkans have taken the forefront in the production, without leaving the pop feel heard in previous work.

“Bajos Tiempos” Like in the in debut album by Panoptica Orchestra has great musical collaborations such as: Sebastian Litmanovich aka Cineplexx (Argentine musician producer residing in Spain and active member of the band Papaya and guest musician of Federico Aubele’s live band), Leo Satragno founder of the bands El Signo and Ultratango (Argentina) (the latter is credited with being the pioneers of electronic tango … “Gustavo Santolalla quote”), on accordion Cuti Aste (Chilean TV host and multi-instrumentalist musician also known as member of the live band of Los Tres), the cumbia, hip hop and funk collective from Cali Colombia “Zalama Crew” took care of rhymes on “Hasta que amanezca” in addition to the vocals of his recurring collaborators Alma Velasco (Fase) and Jaz Luna (Calacas jazz Band) of Mexico.

It will be on October 14th that “Bajos Tiempos” will see the light and the “bad times” will disappear and be filled with good ones to the ears of friends and fans in different parts of Latin America.

Panoptica Orchestra, first known as NPO (Nortec Panoptica Orchestra) released its self-titled debut album in 2010 under the mexican label LOV / RECS on CD, vinyl and digital formats. Their single “Complejo de amor” with Javiera Mena of Chile, managed to put the project as a benchmark of national electronic music in Mexico, creating an identity on its own and distinguishing from his former bandmates in the Nortec Collective. Other songs from the debut album “TJ Tango”, “Ven a mi” and “Pico Selector” achieved great positioning and excellent reviews by the specialized press worldwide; “Pico Selector” was selected as the official theme for the campaign of the African Cup of Nations, through a TV ad directed by Mexican director and Oscar winner Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu.
