Released in November, “Cocoon” is on the fast track to becoming a 2017 smash. On Spotify, the track quickly amassed over 19 million plays and counting, while stirring up 4 million-plus YouTube/VEVO views with its gentle and seamless fusion of electronic vibes and folky singer-songwriter flourishes. In addition, the song has reached Top 25 at Alternative radio with early support from Sirius XM, Alt Nation and more. In addition the track just achieved Gold-Status in Australia.
Milki Chance — comprised of former schoolmates Clemens Rehbein and Philipp Dausch —explains that “Cocoon” was inspired by trying to find a period of reflection on the runaway success of their first album, Sadnecessary. Or in Clemens’ own words, “trying to find a place where you can be yourself and not be distracted; to slow down and reflect on yourself.”
The band also announces a string of international & US tour dates kicking off in London on February 13th. Tickets go on sale today. It will be the first tour with new music from the band since the release of Sadnecessary three years ago. Fans will get a chance to hear new music off the upcoming album live before its release on March 17th. See full tour dates below. Tickets can be purchased here.
The band has also released the first chapter of their “Blossomentary” which can be found on their website www.milkychance.net. Chapter 1 allows fans to virtually follow Clemens & Philipp to their studio where they recorded their new album, see inside the studio and act as a virtual sound mixer while the band performs “Doing Good” acoustically, and explore many other surprises. The more the user explores, the more he is able to unlock and discover. This is the first of three chapters which will be revealed leading up to the album launch.

In addition, the single has attracted top tastemaker praise. Time describes the song as “Somewhere between the folksy rock of Vampire Weekend and the haunting electropop of Beach House,” adding that it’s, “low-key alt-rock that appeals to indie listeners and mainstream pop fans.” Indie Shuffle writes, “They have wonderfully upbeat songs and can also put on a pretty solid live performance,” and Indie Obsessive claims, “The band’s sound combines deep, organic warmth instrumental arrangements” and “it also brings forth a palpable sense of returning to a place of serenity.”
Featuring the multiplatinum global hit “Stolen Dance”, 2014’s Sadnecessary earned ecstatic praise from People, Spin, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Nylon, BlackBook, and more, solidifying the group as one of the year’s biggest breakout success stories. Following the release, the young German duo played gigs all over the world which included Coachella Music & Arts Festival, legendary outdoor venue Red Rocks, and three sold-out US Tours comprising more than 60 dates in total.
