La banda ícono de la música latinoamericana,Cultura Profética, presenta su sexto álbum de estudio, Sobrevolando, una oda al despertar social, político y cultural, que conecta tema por tema con los puntos más relevantes de la humanidad y su realidad actual. En términos de ejecución, es una obra maestra, no tiene fecha de caducidad y se eleva a la más alta esfera de la escena musical por sus extraordinarias aportaciones de alto nivel creativo.
Sobrevolar, de manera simbólica, es la acción que ha asumido Cultura Profética para seguir hacia delante. Lo vivido en Puerto Rico tras el huracán María, la superficialidad de mucha de la creación musical, la dirección desalmada de la geopolítica internacional y los cambios drásticos que ha atravesado la misma banda son algunos de los retos trascendidos. Inspirados también en la naturaleza del pitirre, un ave pequeña capaz de vencer atacando desde arriba al ave de rapiña de su isla, el guaraguao, Cultura Profética hace honor a los líderes del nuevo despertar de lucha política y social alrededor del mundo.
“En tiempos en los que la industria musical y los intereses neoliberales nos abruman con canciones (en su mayoría) sin substancia, proponemos canciones que provocan inquietud, que conectan con la sensibilidad espiritual de nuestros pueblos. Como bien dice su nombre, Sobrevolando, observamos cual pitirres la complejidad de nuestros días, siempre aguerridos y manteniendo alto nuestro vuelo”, afirma Willy Rodríguez.
En esta producción, Cultura Profética nos propone un discurso de valor universal que descansa en la inquietud y en la búsqueda de todo aquello que nos hace libres. Nos invita a superar limitaciones, a mantener una mente abierta, a reflexionar en el amor y sus matices, pero sobre todo a conectar con nosotros mismos.
Nueve años han pasado desde que los fanáticos de Cultura Profética tuvieron la dicha de disfrutar un álbum nuevo de la agrupación. ¿Lo sorprendente? Su fanaticada a nivel internacional aumenta con el paso de los años, la admiración por su música alcanzó al continente europeo, convocando a miles de personas que responden a la honestidad y el sonido único de la banda, dirigida por sus principales integrantes: Willy Rodríguez (voz y bajo), Eliut González (guitarra), Omar Silva (guitarra y bajo) y Juan Carlos Sulsona (teclados).
¿Qué hay de nuevo? Sobrevolando reúne las experiencias vividas por casi una década por los músicos, esta vez acompañados por su nuevo baterista, Ernesto (Bebo) Rodríguez Dumont, quien también funge como productor del fonograma. La bien conocida riqueza de estilos ya experimentados a lo largo de la discografía es transformada, desde un nuevo contexto, en algo diferente. Los elementos innovadores de sus composiciones y arreglos musicales se salen de toda norma. En adición, el álbum se distancia del sonido digital, al haber sido mezclado completamente en tecnología analógica por el ingeniero ganador de múltiples premios Grammy, Ben Kane, quien también añadió su toque como coproductor. Es un álbum tan variado y exquisito musical y sonoramente, que posiblemente les posicione dentro de la historia de la música como un nuevo referente para futuras generaciones de músicos y audiófilos.
“No trabajamos con fórmulas aritméticas, hacemos arte libre y aunque la formación de la banda se mantiene similar desde sus comienzos, son las armonías, los contrapuntos, las melodías y los timbres los que, como la vida, simplemente evolucionan”, explica Omar Silva.
La agrupación presenta un álbum de 15 temas bajo su propio sello discográfico independiente, La Mafafa Discos. Fue grabado a través de unos cinco años en varios estudios de San Juan, Puerto Rico, con los ingenieros Errol Brown, Julio González, Carlos Velázquez y Harold W. Sanders, y mezclado y masterizado en Electric Garden, tendrá su lanzamiento oficial en todas las plataformas digitales el 1ro de noviembre.
Cultura Profética presentó el primer sencillo del disco, Caracoles, el pasado mes de agosto, con un videoclip extraordinario dirigido por el colombiano Hugo Rubiano y producido por Natalia Agudelo y Nicolás Herreño, el cual ya alcanzó 6.5 millones de reproducciones en YouTube.
Mientras tanto, la banda de origen puertorriqueño continúa cerrando su gira Qualia de 2019 por México y los EE.UU. con 5 exitosos conciertos en Puebla, Guadalajara, Monterrey, San Diego, la Ciudad de México y Ciudad Juárez. Ya en diciembre, arrancará en el Movistar Arena de Santiago, Chile, lo que será el nuevo espectáculo, Sobrevolando.

“Sobrevolando”, the most anticipated album of “Cultura Profética” will be available on all digital platforms starting November 1st
The iconic Latin American music band Cultura Profética presents its sixth studio album “Sobrevolando”,an ode to the social, political and cultural awakening. With each track, the album connects with the most relevant themes of today’s society and its reality. In terms of execution, the album is a masterpiece. It has no expiration date, and it rises to the highest sphere of the musical scene for its extraordinary contributions of high creative level.
Sobrevolando (flying over), in a symbolic way, is the action that Cultura Profética has taken to continue forward. What happened in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, the superfluous state of the musical scene, the heartless direction of international geo-politics and the drastic changes that the band has gone through, are some of the challenges they have transcended. Inspired also by the nature of the gray kingbird, a small bird capable of conquering the red-tail hawk, a Puerto Rican native predator, by attacking from above, Cultura Profética honors the leaders of the new political and social awakening around the world.
“In times when the music industry and the interests of capitalist societies overwhelm us with songs without substance, we propose music that causes restlessness, and connects with the spiritual sensibility of our people. Alluding to the title, we observe the complexity of our days, always high flying, always valiant, much like the kingbird” said Willy Rodriguez.
With this production, Cultura Profética proposes a workmanship of universal value. An artistry that proves itself to be restless. A work that invites us to overcome limitations, to keep an open mind, and to reflect on love and its nuances, but above all, to connect with ourselves.
It has been ten years since Cultura Profética fans had the joy of buying an album from the group. The surprising thing? Their international fandom has been increasing over the years. The admiration for their music reached the European continent with thousands of expecting fans, craving their honesty and unique sound, skillfully delivered by Willy Rodriguez (voice and bass), Eliut Gonzalez (guitar), Omar Silva (guitar and bass) and Juanqui Sulsona (keyboard).
So, what’s new? Well, everything and nothing. “Sobrevolando”gathers the experiences lived in the past decade this time accompanied by new drummer Ernesto “Bebo” Rodríguez Dumont, who also serves as producer. The well-known wealth of styles already experienced throughout their discography is transformed into something different. The innovative elements of their compositions and musical arrangements are beyond standard. As if that were not enough, bordering on eccentricity, the album distances itself from digital sound by being completely mixed with analog technology by the multi-Grammy-winning engineer Ben Kane, who also serves as a co-producer. It is an album so varied and exquisitely musical, that it may position them in the history of music as a framework of reference for future generations of musicians and audiophiles.
“We don’t work with arithmetic, we do free art and although the band’s formation remains similar since its inception, the harmonies, the counterpoints, and melodies, like life, simply evolve”, Omar Silva explains.
The group presents an album with 15 tracks under their own independent record label La Mafafa Discos. It was recorded over five years in several studios in San Juan, Puerto Rico with engineers Erron Brown, Julio Gonzalez, Carlos Velazquez and Harold W. Sanders, and was mixed and mastered in Electric Garden. It will have its official launch on all digital platforms on November 1st.
Cultura Profética presented the album’s first single “Caracoles”in August, with an extraordinary video clip directed by Colombian Hugo Rubiano and produced by Natalia Agudelo and Nicolás Herreño, which already reached 6.5 million views on YouTube.
On the other hand, the Puerto Rican band continues to close its 2019 tour Qualiain Mexico and the US with 5 successful concerts in Puebla, Guadalajara, Monterrey, San Diego, Mexico City and Ciudad Juárez. In December, it will start at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, what will become their new show, Sobrevolando.
