Mexican-born multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Beto Hale is bringing us his long-awaited EP, “No hay marcha atrás” today.
He had already captivated us with his mesmerizing single, “Mujer de Plata”.
Beto is celebrating with this EP, –his fifth solo release– and the first that is completely in Spanish. The album is produced by Hale and co-produced by Brent Fischer.
“One of the most intriguing artists on the music scene today” Jo-Ann Greene – All Music.
Opening this incredible five-song set is the single Mujer de Plata, the beautiful song Beto brought us back in march which tells the tale of the love affair between a young man and the moon, but also hints at a love affair with an elusive woman.
“Sálvame” is a cry for help and a hopeful song. The lyrics evoke a coming to terms with one’s failings but also project a better place to be spiritually and in a relationship. The combination of the rock band recorded by Beto (bass, drums, guitars, piano, synthesizer) and the symphonic arrangements by Brent Fischer (performed by the Brent Fischer Orchestra) create a lush soundscape that Hale only dreamed of while growing up listening to George Martin’s arrangements of The Beatles.
“No hay marcha atrás” is a song of redemption. Relationships have peaks and lows. The song asks for forgiveness- in an upbeat shuffle kind of way.
Also driven by a Rhodes , “Sólo voy a dar amor” is a song that combines all of Hale’s passions: grooving drums, tasteful electronic sounds (the synth bass is the glue for the whole track) lush strings (arranged by Brent Fischer and performed by the Brent Fischer Orchestra), cool guitars, and of course, vocal harmonies that result in an introspective narrative about starting over, not looking back, and giving love to heal oneself and those around us.
Closing the EP is another straight-ahead rock track like “Mujer de plata”, titled “Ya no aguanto más”. There are no synths here, just guitar, bass and drums… And of course some in-your-face vocal lines that will stay with you for a long time. A love song in the best rock tradition.
All tracks were mixed by Sal Ojeda, who recently mixed the music documentaries “Echo in the Canyon” and “Pavarotti”.
