Aterciopelados, the pioneer Latin-American folk-rock group, returns after 8 years with their first long and live project entitled “Reluciente, Rechinante y Aterciopelado.” This CD+DVD is a compilation of the most representative songs of their repertoire that celebrates over two decades of their existence as a band. It features the participation of big names, such as Macaco, León Larregui (vocals for the Mexican group Zoé), Goyo (Chocquibtown) and Catalina García (Monsieur Periné).
The group’s members, Andrea Echeverri and Héctor Buitrago, founded Aterciopelados in 1992 and achieved great success, both locally and internationally, thanks to a sound that was absolutely unique and innovative, free of prejudices, mixing rock with the roots of Colombian folklore and even with salsa and bossa nova.
Aterciopelados have grown and evolved with each production, making history in Latin America and the rest of the world. They have released seven studio and one compilation album, selling over ten million copies of their records. Their album Río has been mentioned by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 10 best Latin rock albums of all times.
They have earned two Latin Grammy awards and been nominated on multiple occasions for the Grammy. Aterciopelados are also Amnesty International ambassadors focusing on the fight against abuse of women and have been strong activists since the beginning of their journey as a group, as well as individually, with Andrea releasing three studio recordings (“Andrea Echeverri”, “Dos” & “Ruiseñora”) that reveal a very clear position regarding gender issues and the rights of women. Furthermore, Hector, who is composer and producer for many up and coming artists, has always been interested in the environment and the legacy from ancestral indigenous people, and has actively participated in organizing “Canto al Agua,” an intercultural network focusing on healing and caring for the water. His soloist discography consists of his albums “Conector”, “Conector II” and “Niños Cristal”.
Hector and Andrea are currently presenting “Reluciente, Rechinante y Aterciopelado”, homage to all the songs that turned them into one of the greatest and most renowned rock bands in Colombia and worldwide. As a result of their getting together after a three-year recess and with the objective of presenting their greatest hits at the 20 years of Rock al Parque, they have created this CD+DVD. It includes songs that made the “50 most viral songs of Colombia”

La banda pionera del rock-folk latinoamericano Aterciopelados regresa después de 8 años con su primer proyecto de larga duración en vivo titulado “Reluciente, Rechinante y Aterciopelado” un CD+DVD, que recopila las canciones más emblemáticas de su repertorio, que celebra las más de dos décadas de la banda en la música y que cuenta con la participación de grandes invitados como Macaco, León Larregui (vocalista de la agrupación Mexicana Zoé), Goyo (Chocquibtown) y Catalina García (Monsieur Periné).
Formada por Andrea Echeverri y Héctor Buitrago, Aterciopelados surgió en 1992 alcanzando un enorme éxito local e internacional gracias a un sonido absolutamente único e innovador carente de prejuicios, que mezclaba el rock con las raíces del folclore colombiano e incluso con la salsa y la bossa nova.
Aterciopelados ha crecido y evolucionado con cada producción realizada, marcando la historia en Latinoamérica y en el resto del mundo. Con siete álbumes de estudio publicados y un álbum recopilatorio han vendido más de diez millones de copias de discos. Ganadores de dos Grammy Latino y nominados en múltiples ocasiones al Grammy, son embajadores de Amnistía Internacional en la lucha contra el maltrato a la mujer, han sido fuertes activistas desde el inicio de su carrera como grupo y en continuidad en su carrera cómo solistas en dónde Andrea ha presentado tres álbum de estudio con una posición muy clara respecto al tema de género y los derechos de la mujer.
Por su parte Hector, quien es compositor y productor de artistas emergentes, siempre se ha interesado en la ecología y el legado de los pueblos ancestrales indígenas, ha tomado parte activa en la organización del “Canto al Agua” una red intercultural enfocada en la sanación y el cuidado del agua. Su discografía como solista integrada por sus álbum’s “Conector”, “Conector II” y “Niños Cristal”.
Actualmente Hector y Andrea presentan “Reluciente, Rechinante y Aterciopelado” un homenaje a todas las canciones que los consolidaron cómo una de las bandas de rock más grandes y reconocidas de Colombia a nivel mundial. Fruto de la reunión que pone fin a sus tres años de receso tocando en vivo como grupo y con el motivo de presentar sus éxitos en los 20 años de Rock al Parque, crean posteriormente éste CD+DVD en el que repasan canciones que se encuentran en la lista de los “50 más virales de Colombia”.
