The legend of music celebrates his 85 anniversary with the publication of a
duets album. Alejandro Sanz is the only latin artist participating
Plans are underway for Bennett to make his debut performance at NYC’s
Metropolitan Opera House this fall
Past March 29th Tony Bennett and Alejandro Sanz joined their voices to
record one of the duets to be included in “Duets II”, the album to celebrate
the 85th anniversary of the icon. The song was recorded live at the Ben´s
Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, where Willie Nelson and Faith Hill,
recorded too, among others. The song chosen was “Yesterday I heard the
rain”, a classic of the legendary composer Armando Manzanero. “Duets II”,
produced by Phil Ramone, follows up the Grammy winning “Tony Bennett Duets:
An American Classic” CD, which was released in 2006 and became the Bennett’s
best selling recording to date and won three Grammy Awards. The song was
orchestrated by Jorge Callandrelli, the Argentinean composer, nominated 24
times for the Grammy Award (Callandrelli has won several Grammys through his
many collaborations with Tony Bennett’s recordings) as well as two Oscar
nominations.
Apart from Alejandro Sanz, Duets II features Tony in collaboration with
Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble, Mariah Carey, Cher, Natalie Cole, Sheryl
Crow, Josh Groban, Norah Jones, Faith Hill, k.d. lang, John Mayer, Willie
Nelson, Carrie Underwood and Amy Winehouse. Sanz is the only Latin artist
participating in the album. Duets II will be released on RPM/Columbia
Records on September 20th of this year.

El gran mito de la música celebra su 85 aniversario con la publicación de un
álbum de duetos. Alejandro Sanz es el único artista latino en participar.
El álbum se lanzará en septiembre y se presentará en el legendario
Metropolitan Opera House de Nueva York.
El pasado 29 de Marzo Tony Bennett y Alejandro Sanz juntaron sus voces para
grabar uno de los dúos que formarán parte de “Duets II”, el álbum con el que
el mítico Tony Bennett quiere celebrar su 85 aniversario. Se trata sin duda
de una colaboración histórica. El tema fue grabado en vivo en Ben´s Studios
de Nashville, Tennessee, donde también se grabaron las colaboraciones de
Willie Nelson y Faith Hill, entre otros. El tema elegido para el dueto de
Sanz y Bennett fue “Esta tarde vi llover”, todo un clásico del maestro
Armando Manzanero. “Duets II”, producido por Phil Ramone es la continuación
de “Tony Bennett Duets I: An American Classic”, ganador del Grammy en 2004 y
el disco más vendido del artista hasta la fecha. En esta ocasión, los
arreglos correrán a cargo de Jorge Calladrelli, reconocido compositor y
arreglista argentino nominado 24 veces a los Grammy y en dos ocasiones al
Oscar.
Además de Alejandro Sanz, Duets II cuenta con las colaboraciones de Amy
Winehouse, Mariah Carey, Cher, Natalie Cole, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Amy
Winehouse, Faith Hill, Willie Nelson, Carrie Underwood, Andrea Bocelli,
Joshe Groban, John Mayer, Michael Buble y K.D. Lang. Sanz será el único
artista latino que participa en el disco. La presentación tendrá lugar en
otoño en el Metropolitan Opera House de Nueva York.
