RELEASES HIS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SINGLE “CABALLERO”

A FIRST LOOK AT HIS NEXT 100% MARIACHI ALBUM

Alejandro Fernández, one of the most prolific and successful Latin American singers today, who has elevated Mexican music and the ranchero style by taking it to the global stage, releases today his new single, “CABALLERO” (Gentleman) on Univision radio and globally at 6 pm EST.

“CABALLERO” is a love story harmonized to the typical trumpets of rancheras. It is also the first single to be released of the new album Fernández will be launching in 2020, consisting 100% of mariachi music. The song written by José Luis Roma (Río Roma), talks about a man in love with a woman who is already committed to another man, so his love must be kept secret. As the lyrics say, “Si no fuera un caballero (If I wasn’t a gentleman), te lo juro (I swear), te arrancaba de sus brazos (I would rip you from his arms)”, conveying the pain and impotence he feels because he is not able to confess his love, given he is a man of principle and a true gentleman.

The video, directed by the renowned Oliver Castro (Amores Perros), was filmed in Tapalpa, a magical town in Jalisco, considered the birthplace of mariachi. In it, you can see Fernández dressed in the traditional mariachi outfit singing at the top of a mountain. Intertwined are images of furtive encounters with this forbidden woman, giving free reign to the imagination and leaving us wondering whether, in fact, he declares his love to her.

Alejandro has continued his father’s – world-known singer Vicente Fernández – legacy. Throughout his career, he proudly has stayed true to his roots and taken Mexican music around the world. This new single is a sneak preview of the type of music and hits included in the album launching in 2020, which features collaborations from composers like Christian Nodal, Luis Carlos Monroy, Jorge Massias and Chico Elizalde. Recorded between Barcelona, Los Angeles and New York, and produced by Aureo Baqueiro, this new album promises to consolidate Fernández position as the true leader of the genre today.

The love for music, and the desire to be an informer brought us to the world of entertainment. We have gradually built on a mission that has been goal in life: bringing Latin music to US masses. In 1999 our editor, Kike Posada, was selected “an influential personality in the realm of music for the 21st century” by The Miami Herald. He also received the ASCAP Ampt award for his support to Latin music and the prestigious Orquidea Award as a Colombian talent. He has an extensive professional experience as a journalist, radio programmer, music critic, member of NARAS and LARAS (Grammy). BOOM created the first radio program specialized in Latin alternative music in the United States, (see Billboard magazine 11/14/93.) Posada beginnings as a journalist took place in Bogota, at the Xavier University. There, he became the official voice of the station. Then became a record label executive. Managed the international market for Universal Music (formerly Polygram) Moving to the US in 1992, joined EMI-Capitol Records as South East Coast Promoter.
