Former International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organization champion Breidis Prescott, still remembered for his brutal 2008 knockout of Amir Khan, will appear at Champions Simulcast Center & Sports Bar for a “meet and greet” session on Saturday May 7.
Prescott’s visit to Hialeah Park will be part of an ESPN Deportes Miami “fight night watch party” highlighted by the pay-per-view telecast of the Canelo Vs. Khan WBC World Middleweight Championship fight from Las Vegas on the big screens at Champions, offered to fight fans at no charge.
Warriors Boxing Promotions executives Leon Margules and Luis DeCubas, who brought “El Khanqueror” to fight at Hialeah Park in 2015 for a bout that ended in a narrow split-decision loss to Fredrick Lawson, will join Prescott as hosts of the watch party, which is scheduled to begin at 8 PM ET.
In Las Vegas, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the wildly popular Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1, 32 KOs) will defend his title against the potentially dangerous challenger Khan (31-3-0, 19 KOs) in a bout scheduled to begin shortly after 9 PM ET.
The evening festivities at Champions Simulcast Center & Sports Bar will cap a “Derby Day Doubleheader” that includes simulcasting wagering on the 2016 Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs.
The doors at Hialeah Park will open at 9:45 AM and the Kentucky Derby –scheduled for a 6:34 PM ET start– tops a packed schedule of full card simulcast horse racing from major tracks across the country.
Hialeah Park Racing & Casino, with entrances at 100 East 32nd Street and 2200 East 4th Avenue, is easily accessible from all major Miami highways. The landmark venue is conveniently located just minutes by car from Miami International Airport, South Beach, Downtown Miami, Coral Gables, and Doral.
