Last night in New York City, Argentinian singer-songwriter Diego Torres left the stage of the Hammerstein Ballroom glowing with his performance of his new single, “Iguales” (Equals), starting the live transmission of the official team drawing for the Copa América Centenario 2016. Accompanied by the FCBC Young Adult Gospel Choir and over 8 musicians on stage, Torres brought his distinctive charisma and feel good persona to everyone present. His performance was preceded by a parade of flags from all the countries participating in the once-in-a-lifetime tournament, giving even more importance to his message of acceptance and equality.

The draw, which was transmitted live on Univision Deportes Network (UDN), FS2, FOX Soccer Plus, and their online affiliates, is the initial event of the 100 years of the Copa América, and welcomed esteemed members of the soccer community such as Mario Kempes, Carlos Valderrama, Jorge Campos, and Alexi Lalas, among others, as honorary Draw Assistants. Also in attendance were coaches and some players from the 16 countries participating in this historic version of the Copa America, which will be held for the first time ever across the United States, from June 3 to 26, and will feature global soccer stars like Leonel Messi, Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, David Luiz, James Rodriguez, Kaka, and Michael Bradley.

Written by Torres along with Claudia Brant and Marcelo Wengrovski, “Iguales” is the new single from his latest album release ‘Buena Vida’ (Good Life), which also includes the hit song “Hoy Es Domingo” (Today is Sunday) with Ruben Blades, song that was nominated to the Latin Grammy for “Song of the Year”.

The upbeat song has all the elements of becoming yet another anthem from the celebrated singer-songwriter and celebrates the differences that make us unique as human beings.

Torres continues to promote his new album throughout the United States and Latin America, and will be kicking off his “Buena Vida Tour” during the upcoming month of April at the legendary Gran Rex Theater in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
