Estonian four piece Ewert and The Two Dragons are excited to debut the beautiful Helen Takkin directed music video for “Circles”. The video was filmed in one take in the serene setting of Karksi-Nuia, Estonia. “Circles” is the title track from the band’s recently released Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers) produced album. One of the biggest and most accomplished bands in Estonia, Ewert and The Two Dragons have been steadily winning fans and exposure in North America. Since its release on Sire records, their new LP Circles has been featured by MTV Iggy, Los Angeles Times, Relix, Culture Collide, San Francisco Chronicle, The Wild Honey Pie, and Washington Post, who were fond of Circles “catchy rhythms and musical colors.”
The video for “Circles” is made all the more poignant by the incredible acting on display from Maiken Schmidt and Ott Kartau. Director Helen Takkin says that the video speaks about the suffocating reality when someone you care about decides to leave from your life, and the emotions that arise from this kind of situation. “For me, this song is touchingly moving but there is some kind of a painful hope for a better future,” she says.
Erki Pärnoja of Ewert and The Two Dragons wrote the song and explains it as such. “‘Circles’ was written during the time in my life when I realized it had been moving in a circle for years. It always brought me back to the same difficult place where I never really wanted to be. Writing ‘Circles’ helped me to clear my mind and put my feelings into words. And that was a relief. So this song is mainly about changes and changing. The topic that is relevant to all of us to some extent. Helen Takkin’s perspective to the song is so beautiful, painful and real. ‘Circles’ got another dimension – a very rich, deep and beautiful one.”
