El B, pioneer of Cuban hip hop in Latin America for over a decade, member of the Cuban rap group, Los Aldeanos, releases “Comienza de nuevo” (Start again), the first single off his sixth solo album, Luz, due out later this year under Rock The Moon Productions and the indie imprint, ZenStar Productions.
Bian Oscar Rodriguez Gala, better known as El B, defines himself and his philosophy as non-commercial: his special way to see the world and his yearning to mend the failures of society are highlighted on his lyrics. This concern for society’s reality is perceived in the more than 20 albums he has released as part of the duo, Los Aldeanos, recognized by the Hispanic youth as the voice of their generation, and in the 5 productions he has released as a solo artist.
Co-founder of Cuba’s scene, Real Rap Cubano, winner of Red Bull’s freestyle rap competition in Cuba, La Batalla de los Gallos, for two consecutive years in 2007 and 2008, of El B was disqualified from the international tournament after being denied to leave the country by the Cuban government. These and other constraints led him to leave Cuba in 2014 and to step on American soil.
El B ‘s music and songs transcend the borders of his native country. His unique voice and lyrics bursting with a message devoid of concession have spread to a global audience. “Comienza de nuevo,” produced by El B, is another example of this consciousness that reflects his recent exodus.
