-The annual Skanking Reggae FEST presented by iHomi & Goldenvoice attracted thousands of fans to the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles last Sunday. Reel Big Fish, Panteón Rococó, El Gran Silencio, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Inspector, Raskahuele, 8 Kalacas, Adhesivo and Dub Club DJs demonstrated that ska is more alive than ever, and is represented as much in the Latin American countries as it is in the U.S.

In this festival edition, groups from Mexico, Jamaica, El Salvador and the American Union, gave additional testimony to the unification of this country’s Latin ska and reggae scene which made up most of the audience.

Adhesivo, the group from El Salvador and the last to be added to the festival’s line up, opened the festival with such enthusiastic force that the public began dancing with the traditional slogan “si se cae lo levantamos” translating to “if you fall, we’ll pick you up,” shown in an introductory video, expressing the harmonizing spirit and coexistence that both ska and reggae are both based off of. Reel Big Fish was responsible for closing the dancing and music celebration that went on for more than eight hours prior with the usual explosive performances by Voodoo Glow Skulls, Panteón Rococó, Inspector and El Gran Silencio.

Both Adrian Antonio Gonzalez, who is owner of iHomi and Bolochos, a young musician, a promoter and founder of the growing Skanking Reggae FEST, and Goldenvoice, who endorsed the festival for the first time and gave a greater platform for the event that has been growing underground for the past five years, were satisfied with the results and are excited about the planning for next year, continuing the same path of uniting groups of various nationalities. -The annual Skanking Reggae FEST presented by iHomi & Goldenvoice attracted thousands of fans to the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles last Sunday.
