Los Angeles, June 17th 2015- Tonight was a fabulous evening for Latin music at the star-studded SESAC Latina Music Awards annual gala. The boutique performing rights organization, celebrated the achievements of its members, songwriters, publishers and affiliates at the historic Beverly Hills Hotel. SESAC’s Senior Vice President Trevor Gale, opened the evening with a welcome speech and Awards were presented by J. J. Cheng, Vice President of SESAC Latina, and Celeste Zendejas, Director.
SESAC Latina’s Songwriter of the Year, which is determined by the top charting singles, was awarded to Luciano Luna, whose compositions have been recently recorded by artists such as Julion Alvarez y su Norteño Banda, Luis Coronel, Calibre 50, Noel Torres among many others.
Song of the Year, a category in which the winner is determined by the duration of the song’s performance on the charts, was awarded to “Te Hubieras ido Antes”, recorded by Julion Alvarez and written by Luciano Luna. Publisher of the Year was Dulce Maria Music, which has a catalog of songs recorded by artists such as Calibre 50 and Banda Carnaval.
The evening’s performances began with 3x Latin Grammy winning Colombian superstar Fonseca. Following a standing ovation at the end of his set, Fonseca was presented with a plaque for his #1 song “Juntos”, which he co-wrote with fellow Colombian, Juanes. Later in the evening, Fonseca was presented with the the prestigious SESAC Latina Contemporary Icon Award, the first of its kind given by the organization.
The evening continued with a performance by Noel Torres, who has recently been called “The New Idol of Regional Mexican Music” and who has been rocketing up Latin charts with his newest album La Balanza. The superstar performed a medley of his hits, “Para que tantos besos”, “Me interesas” and “Adivina”, as a tribute to SESAC Songwriter of the Year, Luciano Luna. After receiving the award for Song of the Year, Luciano Luna thanked SESAC Latina, his colleagues, his family, but most important of all, he thanked all the artists that have recorded his songs.
Nicky Jam, one of the pioneers of the urban music movement and a winner of the YouTube award for his song “El Perdón”, 115 million views, continued the party atmosphere and got the audience pm their feet during his high energy set that closed out the celebration.
SESAC Latina had a phenomenal year thanks to the creative talent and accomplishments of its affiliated songwriters and publishers, and their continued presence at the top of the charts.
The winners of this year’s SESAC Latina YouTube Music Performance Award, in addition toNicky Jam “El Perdón,” were J Balvin for his song “6AM” recorded by J Balvin ft with Farruko, and Josué Ricardo Benítez and Martin Castro for their song “Mi Padrino El Diablo,” recorded by Banda La Trakalosa De Monterrey.

Los Angeles, 17 de Junio- La entrega de los Premios SESAC Latina 2015 ha sido un evento de gala fabuloso y memorable para la música latina. La exclusiva organización de derechos de autor, celebró los logros de sus miembros, compositores y editoras en el histórico Beverly Hills Hotel. El Señor Vicepresidente de SESAC, Trevor Gale, estuvo a cargo de la apertura. Los premios fueron presentados por la Vicepresidenta de SESAC Latina J. J. Cheng y la Directora Celeste Zendejas.
El premio Compositor del Año de SESAC Latina, que se determina considerando los temas más exitosos en las listas de popularidad incluyendo sus sencillos #1, fue otorgado a Luciano Luna, cuyas composiciones han sido recientemente grabadas por artistas como Julión Alvarez y su Norteño Banda, Luis Coronel, Calibre 50, Noel Torres, Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga y muchos más.
Como Canción del Año, una categoría que se determina de acuerdo a su duración total en los charts, la ganadora fue “Te Hubieras ido Antes”, grabada por Julión Alvarez y compuesta por Luciano Luna. El premio Editora del Año fue dado a Dulce Maria Music, que sumó un significativo catálogo de canciones de autores de SESAC Latina como Calibre 50 Y Banda Carnaval.
Las presentaciones musicales de la noche se dieron inicio con el tres veces ganador del Grammy Latino y súper estrella colombiana Fonseca. Una vez finalizado su show tras una larga ovación, Fonseca fue galardonado con uno de los Premios SESAC Latina 2015 por la obtención del #1 con su canción “Juntos,” la cual escribió con su compatriota Juanes. Posteriormente, Fonseca recibió el premio ‘SESAC Latina Contemporary Icon Award,’ el primero de su clase dado por la organización.
La gala continuó con la presentación de Noel Torres, el Nuevo Ídolo de la Música Regional Mexicana, quien ha dominado las listas de popularidad con su más reciente trabajo discográfico “La Balanza”. Noel interpretó un ‘medley’ de sus éxitos más recientes incluyendo Para que tantos besos, Me interesas y Adivina, como tributo al Compositor del Año de SESAC Latina,Luciano Luna, quien al concluir esta actuación recibió el premio como autor de la Canción del Año y agradeció a SESAC Latina, sus colegas, su familia y de especial manera a los artistas que han grabado sus canciones.
Nicky Jam, uno de los pioneros del movimiento musical Urbano y el ganador del Premio YouTube 2015 por su canción “El Perdón” (115 millones de vistas), cerró la noche con el vibrante y rítmico mensaje de su música, encendiendo el ambiente festivo y poniendo de pie a la audiencia con su energía. Fue el explosivo broche de oro para una celebración realmente inolvidable.
La mayoría de las categorías premiadas incluyeron canciones escritas por los afiliados de SESAC Latina que han alcanzado la posición #1 en las listas.
