The renowned Mexican pop trio Reik is busy recording its fifth studio album alongside its longtime producer Kiko Cibrián.
As a tantalizing preview, Reik presents the single “Voy a Olvidarte” (I’m Going to Forget You), a potent ballad produced in the group’s trademark style. It’s been selected as the “expulsion song” for contestants kicked off this season of Big Brother (Mexico).
Written by band member Julio Ramírez, who has composed many of the group’s hits, “Voy a Olvidarte” debuts in the United States and Latin America today.
“At times it seems that after you’ve been scarred too often by a relationship, you’re not the same. Regardless of how much forgiveness is sought or how much you try, there’s no going back. That’s what I’m trying to portray in this song which I really like. It’s a simple song, straight to the heart, and my intention is for it to make an impact on people.” – Julio Ramírez, Reik.
Its official music video will be filmed in mid-October.
The group’s triumphs for its previous album cycle (Peligro) were monumental, highlighited by its five sold-out performances at Mexico City’s National Auditorium; two performances at Buenos Aires’ Luna Park; its February 2015 concert in Viña del Mar, Chile, which earned them the prestigious Gold and Silver Seagull Awards; and its unstoppable 300+ date tour, which covered the U.S., Mexico and Latin America, and even included festivals in South Korea.
Reik’s upcoming album is almost complete, and is sure to be one of Latin pop’s most eagerly awaited releases of 2016.

De cara al lanzamiento de un nuevo disco en 2016, el grupo Reik trabaja actualmente en la producción de nuevos temas y afinan los detalles de su próximo álbum bajo la producción de Kiko Cibrian.
Y como primera muestra, Reik presenta el tema “Voy a Olvidarte”, una potente balada , muy al estilo de Reik que forma parte del reality televisivo Big Brother, ya que fue seleccionado como tema de la expulsión de los huéspedes de la casa, por lo que sonará en la producción a partir del jueves 1ero de Octubre.
El sencillo, de la autoría de Julio Ramírez, cantautor e integrante de la banda y compositor de varios de los grandes éxitos del grupo, se estrena en Latinoamérica y Estados Unidos a partir de hoy.
“A veces sucede que después de varias cicatrices en una relación, no quedas igual, por mucho perdón o mucho que trates, ya no hay vuelta atrás y eso es lo que pretendo reflejar en esta canción que me gusta mucho. Es un tema simple, directo al corazón y que busco sea una historia que le llegue a la gente”. – Julio Ramírez.
El video oficial se filmará a mediados de octubre y se estrenará próximamente.
Con su álbum “Peligro”, conquistaron el Auditorio Nacional de la Ciudad de México en 5 ocasiones, Viña del mar en Febrero pasado llevándose a casa las Gaviotas de Oro y Plata, 2 Luna Parks en Argentina y contaron con más de 300 shows por varias ciudades de México, Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica llegando incluso a festivales en el lejano Corea del sur.
Actualmente Reik se encuentran cerca de concluir el que será su 5to álbum de estudio que seguramente se convertirá en una de las producciones más esperadas del 2016.
