The Avett Brothers release their new album, True Sadness [American Recordings/Republic Records], in stores and at all digital retailers today. Upon release, the record soared to #1 on both the iTunes Overall Top Albums Chart and Top Rock Albums Chart.

True Sadness has received critical acclaim from tastemakers across the board. Entertainment Weekly exalted True Sadness as “the most exciting and adventurous folk-rock album of the year,” going on to describe it as “their best blend yet of traditional roots sounds and electronic ideas.” Rolling Stone writes, “a highly catchy LP that runs from lush, big-beat pop to sparse Americana,” and Associated Press says, “The Avett Brothers’ exquisite True Sadness mixes new, classic.” Consequence of Sound put it best, “(True Sadness)…poetic lyrics and tales that can be returned to for years to come.”

Starting tonight, The Avett Brothers are taking over television this week as they return to the stage of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Next up, they take over the TODAY Show with a performance and sit down interview on Monday, June 27. Finally, they perform on CBS This Morning for the first time on July 2.

Celebrating the release, the band hosts a special Facebook Live Stream on their official page at 2pm ET/11am PT. Be sure to tune in as the band answers fan questions live!

Achieving a career milestone, their hit single “Ain’t No Man” has captured #1 at AAA radio. This marks their very first number one on the BDS monitored chart in the band’s history. The song is quickly shaping up to be one of their biggest hits yet. Already, “Ain’t No Man” has racked up 1.8 million-plus streams on Spotify, while its music video is nearing 300,000 YouTube/VEVO views. Check out the music video here!

In support of True Sadness, the band continues their nonstop summer tour which includes three shows at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Brooklyn’s Coney Island Amphitheater. See full tour dates below.

During 2009, The Avett Brothers made mainstream waves with their lauded major label debut, I and Love and You. It landed at #16 on the Billboard Top 200 and garnered unanimous critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, Paste, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and Time, who even dubbed it one of Top 10 albums of the year. 2012 saw The Carpenter hit #4 on the Billboard Top 200—their highest bow to date—while People, USA Today, and American Songwriter lauded the album. The group graced the stage of Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! twice in merely a few months’ time. During the second performance, they invited the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra along to pay homage to Brooklyn with “I and Love and You” as personally requested by Mr. Kimmel. Their eighth studio album, Magpie and the Dandelion, went on to debut at #5 on the Billboard Top 200, while they performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Show with David Letterman as well as joining legendary Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell for a rapturous Pearl Jam tribute on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. 2015 saw them support The Rolling Stones for the first time at the Zip Code Tour in Raleigh. A string of sold out shows followed as the boys continue to dream up their next step.
