El Paso, Texas + Cuidad Juarez, Mexico bordertown pop quartet, The Chamanas released a new single, the anti-Trump border wall protest song, “If You Build It, We Will Break It”, featuring Jim Ward (Sparta/At The Drive In) & Kiko Rodriguez, this past Friday, premiering a video via NPR Music – share via YouTube – to announce a new album, NEA II, an updated volume of their 2017 LP NEA, featuring four, first ever English-language songs, a new Spanish-language track and five of NEA’s highlights. The Chamanas are in the midst of select live performances leading up to the release including this Friday, April 27 in Brooklyn, New York at the BRIC Open Borders Festival (confirmed dates below).

Discussing the opportunity to work with Ward & Hernandez and the decision to record in English for the first time, The Chamanas stated:

To live on the border is to be full of Mexican and American inspiration. Working with the people of El Paso, TX and Cd. Juárez has always been a priority, we see it as an opportunity to grow as a community, many of our music videos are made by local producers and we also work with border photographers.

Jim Ward has been a frontier artist with a lot of renown, his work with Sparta and At The Drive-In has always fascinated us. He is also a person who is socially active with the community like Kiko. It is a fortune for us to be able to work with the people we love in this city. Jim has been a great inspiration to us.

We want to reach as many people as possible with our music, we try it in Spanish and we have been successful. Singing in English for us is a challenge that we must achieve. We want Americans and the world to understand our vision of life on the border through our music and to bring our culture to all possible people.
