GRAMMY-winning band La Santa Cecilia has reached yet another milestone in their successful and gratifying career by returning to perform to a full house at the emblematic Walt Disney Concert in Downtown Los Angeles for the second time. The concert that took place on Sunday, October 14 was part of the LA Fest, a genre-spanning exploration of the sounds of the city that has inspired it for the last 100 years and part of a yearlong celebration to commemorate the Los Angeles Philharmonic centennial.
The stunning performance took attendees on a journey through the group’s history, from their earliest albums to their most recent release ‘Amar y Vivir,’ showcasing their immense talent. Undoubtedly, La Santa Cecilia represents the best of Latinx music in the city of Los Angeles, giving voice to the community through their songs.
Among the many surprises that made the presentation an incredibly special event, was the participation of Argentine singer-songwriter Noel Schajris (known for being part of the acclaimed duo Sin Bandera), who performed the song ‘Ódiame’ with La Santa Cecilia. The band also used this opportunity to kick-off the Day of the Dead celebrations by singing their track ‘Calaverita’, which appropriately encapsulates the beauty of the Mexican holiday honoring those who’ve passed away. Maqueos Music Philharmonic, a local youth orchestra comprised of kids with Oaxacan ancestry, was the opening act for this incredible night; they also joined La Santa Cecilia on stage to perform two numbers. The band concluded the night with the interpretation of ‘Mexico Americano’ receiving an overwhelming standing ovation from the public.
La Santa Cecilia is also currently nominated for ‘Best Long Form Music Video’ at the 19thAnnual Latin GRAMMY Awards for the documentary based on their album ‘Amar y Vivir,’ which earned them a nomination to the GRAMMY’s in the ‘Best Latin Pop Album’ category. The Latin GRAMMYs will take place on November 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be broadcasted live on Univision.

El concierto que se realizó el domingo 14 de octubre fue parte de LA Fest, un ciclo especial dedicado a la gran variedad de géneros que le dan identidad musical a una urbe tan ecléctica y estimulante como Los Ángeles y parte de una celebración para conmemorar el centenario del LA Phil.
La impresionante presentación llevó a los asistentes a un viaje a través de la historia de la banda, desde sus primeros álbumes hasta el lanzamiento de su más reciente producción “Amar y Vivir”, mostrando su extraordinario talento. Sin lugar a dudas, La Santa Cecilia representa lo mejor de la música Latinx de la ciudad de Los Ángeles, dando voz a la comunidad a través de sus canciones.

La Santa Cecilia también está actualmente nominada en la 19a entrega de los premios Latin GRAMMY en la categoría de “Mejor Video Musical Versión Larga” por el documental basado en su álbum ‘Amar y Vivir’, por el cual obtuvieron una nominación al GRAMMY a principios de este año en la categoría de ‘Mejor Álbum Pop Latino’. La ceremonia de premiación de los Latin GRAMMY se llevará a cabo el 15 de noviembre en el MGM Grand Garden Arena en Las Vegas y se transmitirá en vivo por Univision.
