Eduardo “Visitante” Cabra and Vicente Garcia Announce Label Signing

Sept 14 First Single, and Fall Album Release

Eduardo “Visitante” Cabra, the Latin music star, songwriter and groundbreaking producer who already holds a record-setting 28 combined GRAMMY & LATIN GRAMMY awards, along with Best New Artist Latin Grammy-winning collaborator Vicente Garcia have signed an exclusive recording agreement partnering Sony Music Colombia and Sony Music Spain for the upcoming release of the pair’s highly anticipated “Trending Tropics” project. An innovative multi-media, music fusion project marking Cabra’s first post-Calle 13 release as an artist, Trending Tropics will be unveiled with a first single release on September 14th, and a full album release later this Fall, with additional support provided by additional Sony Music teams around the world.

“Trending Tropics” finds Visitante and Vicente Garcia creating music born from the traditions of Afro-Caribbean and Caribbean cultures and rhythms – intertwined with the sounds of boundary-pushing contemporary/ experimental recording techniques and timely lyrical subject matter. Desiring to keep the focus directly on the creativity within the music itself instead of a singular persona, Trending Tropics will present the work of several gifted vocalists and instrumentalists through a project fronting multi-media display. Musicians already joining Visitante and Vicente for Trending Tropics include legendary David Bowie guitarist Carlos Alomar, Ana Tijoux, Jorge Drexler, Li Saumet, Ile, Amayo (of Antibalas), Acentoh, Wiso G, Pucho y Guille (Members of Vetusta Morla) and more.

“I’m very happy to return to Sony Music after so many years, after so many creative achievements we experienced in the past, but I’m even happier because this is a project betting on another concept, with a particular sound, a project that was made with much love and with a brutal sense of art,” details Eduardo Cabra. “I’m also happy to be working with these two regional companies, Sony Colombia and Sony Spain, as they both possess great diversity in their catalog, and have the DNA of providing strong support to cool and eclectic projects such as Trending Tropics.”

“Trending Tropics is really at the vanguard of innovation, a perfect equilibrium between music from global roots and forward-thinking sound, explains Jose Maria Barbat, President of Sony Spain. “With a solid artistic concept dealing with the relationship between humans and technology, it is a project boasting cultural diversity, musical richness and incomparable production reached by very few. We are really happy and honored to share this project with Eduardo and Vicente and our friends from Sony Colombia. Thanks for the trust!”

“Trending Tropics represents the evolution of the traditional concept of a music producer,” adds Alejandro Jimenez, President of Sony Colombia. “It is a project that highlights the vast soundscapes within the artistic identity of Visitante, and their realization with an unparalleled live experience.”
