Bomba Estéreo has released the official video for their new single “Amar Así.” The video follows a love story among soldiers stationed on an island near Santa Marta, Colombia. The cinematic clip was directed by Ivan Wild.
“The song ‘Amar Así’ reflects on a relationship that is remembered through special memories and a longing for those loving moments,” Wild says. “So I tried to elaborate on those two elements and looked for a setting that would allow me to share a story of the emotions between two men and reflections of their intimate moments together.”
“This is a story that does not end in a simple video clip, but a story that introduces many questions about the before and after,” Wild continues. “I wanted to break down the idea of a man in a uniform, a man at war – the classic ideas of great adventures and travails across grand oceans. I wanted to show their more intimate moments. The power of nostalgia for a kiss and warm embraces. Memories of a love that puts you in a spell, ‘Un Amor Así.'”
“Amar Así” is the new single off Bomba Estéreo’s GRAMMY nominated album Ayo. “We think this video has a very important and relevant story to share right now”, says Bomba Estéreo’s founder Simón Mejía. “The world is passing through a crazy time. Not only in Colombia but all around it seems like extreme conservative policies are taking over and it is pretty scary.”
“As artists our only weapon is to keep on pushing the opposite way. We are trying to remind everyone that the world should be a place where there should be no prejudice for sexual orientation, race or religion. Maybe then, we will be a better society.”
The release of the “Amar Así” video is on the heels of the breakthrough success of Bomba’s biggest commercial hit of their career, the “To My Love (Tainy Remix).” The remix was produced by acclaimed Puerto Rican producer Tainy and released on the Amanecer (Remixed) digital album in December 2016. However it didn’t start catching on until last winter (December 2017), as it began bubbling up as an organic hit in Mexico. The song now has more than 350 million total streams. Additionally Bomba has more than 5 million Spotify monthly listeners and is one of the Top 500 most listened to artists on the platform.
Bomba Estéreo is currently on a summer festival tour which has taken them from the Latitude Festival in the U.K. to Lollapalooza this past weekend in Chicago. The band has just announced the biggest U.S. headline tour of their career which will launch on December 5 in Seattle.

Bomba Estéreo lanza el video oficial de su más reciente sencillo “Amar Así”. Este cortometraje retrata una historia de amor entre soldados acuartelados en una isla cerca de Santa Marta, Colombia. Este video es dirigido por Ivan Wild.
Wild afirma que, “La canción ‘Amar Así’ es una reflexión sobre una relación sentimental que ha dejado recuerdos especiales y una añoranza por los momentos de cariño. Intenté elaborar sobre esos dos elementos y busqué un marco que me permitiría compartir una historia de emociones entre dos hombres y los reflejos de sus momentos íntimos juntos”.
“Esta historia no termina con un simple video musical, sino que genera dudas sobre el antes y después”, Wild sostiene. “Quería deconstruir la imagen de un hombre uniformado, un hombre en la guerra – las ideas clásicas de grandes aventuras y esfuerzos a través de los océanos. Quería mostrar más de sus momentos íntimos. El poder de la nostalgia de un beso y un abrazo cálido. Los recuerdos de un amor embriagante, ‘un amor así'”.
“Amar Así” es el más reciente sencillo de Ayo, su más reciente álbum que fue nominado al GRAMMY. “Creemos que este video comparte una historia muy importante y pertinente en la actualidad”, asegura Simón Mejía, fundador de Bomba Estéreo. “El mundo está viviendo una época loca, no solamente en Colombia, pero al parecer, en todos lados donde se están imponiendo creencias conservadoras y es algo espantoso”.

La premiere del video de “Amar Así” sigue los pasos del éxito contundente de canción más popular de su trayectoria, “To My Love (Tainy Remix)”. Esta versión es producida por el talentoso puertorriqueño Tainy y formó parte de su álbum digital Amanecer (Remixed) que se editó en diciembre 2016. Fue hasta diciembre 2017 que este tema empezó a convertirse en éxito viral en México. Hasta la fecha, esta canción cuenta con más de 350 millones de streams.
