Canadian singer Alx Veliz’ video for his most recent single “Higher,” premiers globally today on VEVO. The video perfectly fits the energetic song, with catchy beats and a rhythm that makes it impossible not to dance to, showing Alx’s artistic potential and making him comparable to some of today’s hottest RnB and pop artists.

The lyrics in “Higher” describe euphoria from the feeling of being in love and the natural and insatiable high that someone can bring to a person’s life, but Alx reveals that the meaning goes deeper. “Higher is about the power of love and how it picks you up when you have fallen. It’s a song of hope that I dedicate to all those going through dark moments in their life. Just know, your brighter day is yet to come,” Veliz commented.

The video was directed by Baxter Stapleton, who has worked with the likes of Will I AM, Black Eyed Peas and Mya. It was shot outside of Los Angeles and entails to different sequences; each serving as metaphors of a before and after transition in Alx’s life. The initial scene signifies the ‘before,’ with a shot of Alx in the desert, epitomizing desperation, loneliness and struggle. The second sequence symbolizes hope, abundance and happiness in a water oasis showing hues of blue that contrast with white murals where two dancers and Alx represent a bright and new beginning, but most of all happiness.
