Through renowned father of the midnight movies Alejandro Jodorowsky’s intensely personal lens, Endless Poetry  tells the story of his years spent as an aspiring poet in Chile in the 1940’s. Against the wishes of his authoritarian father, the 20 year-old Alejandro Jodorowsky (Adan Jodorowsky, Alejandro’s son), leaves home to pursue his dream of becoming a poet, and is introduced into the bohemian and artistic inner circle of Santiago where he meets Enrique Lihn (Leandro Taub), Stella Diaz Varín (Pamela Flores), Nicanor Parra (Felipe Rios), all unknown at the time, but who would later become driving forces of twentieth century Hispanic literature. Living with these inspirational artists, Jodorowsky’s exploration of his inner feelings takes him on a journey of sensual experimentation leading him to realize his innermost desires and passions. Continuing the autobiographical story he began in THE DANCE OF REALITY, ENDLESS POETRY is an ode to the quest for beauty and inner truth, as a universal force capable of changing one’s life forever, written by a man who has dedicated his existence to creating spiritual and artistic awareness, told through Jodorowsky’s unique surreal and psychedelic visual language.

About Alejandro Jodorowsky:

In 1967, Jodorowsky directed his first feature FANDO Y LIS in Mexico. The film provoked riots when it debuted at the 1968 Acapulco Film Festival. His next film, the cult classic EL TOPO opened in 1971 at the Elgin Theatre in New York. Hailed by John Lennon as a masterpiece, it catapulted Jodorowsky’s career and started the “Midnight Movie” phenomenon. THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, Jodorowsky’s next film, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1973 and is considered by many as his most daring film. His filmography also includes TUSK (1979, the critically acclaimed SANTA SANGRE (1989) and THE RAINBOW THIEF (1990) starring Omar Sharif, Christopher Lee and Peter O’Toole. Additionally, his legendary failed attempt to make Frank Herbert’s book DUNE into a film was the subject of the critically acclaimed 2013 documentary JODOROWSKY’S DUNE.

A true Renaissance man, Jodorowsky developed a successful career as a graphic novelist, collaborating with famous illustrators such as Moebius and Juan Gimenez. He has written about and is well versed in the art of Tarot. From his practice as a tarot reader, his many years of working in the theatre and his interest in psychoanalysis, Jodorowsky has developed a mixture of psychotherapy and shamanism that he calls “Psychomagic”.

In 2011, 22 years after THE RAINBOW THIEF, Jodorowsky went back to his hometown, Tocopilla, a coastal village on the edge of the Chilean desert to shoot THE DANCE OF REALITY, a film based on his autobiography and then followed up with ENDLESS POETRY.
