Latin Grammy Award-winning rock band, from Bogotá, Diamante Eléctrico is back with what promises to be a strong follow up to their previous album ‘B’. Today they announced the release of their new studio album ‘La Gran Oscilación’.

This third studio release, totally analog, was recorded in Bogotá with the help of a Third Man Records engineer and analog wizard Joshua V. Smith, known for his work with Jack White, Beck, The Dead Weather and more.

“We wanted to make a record that represents us now– we’re in a totally different place than two years ago,” states Juan Galeano (vocalist).

To some “La Gran Oscilación” might be a little bit more experimental and conceptual, bouncing in and out of time much like the band’s musical heroes Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and so on. It’s not what you’d call ‘easy’ but it adds a level of profundity to the band’s sound, not heard on ‘B.’

unnamed-3“Placebo” the first single of the record was released late July. It is one of the more upbeat tracks on the album, with easily-identifiable ‘Diamante’ guitar riffs peppered throughout the song, layered on a hip-hop feeling drum beat, and strong rhythm guitars and bass.

When speaking about “Déjala Rodar”, Juan Galeano adds: “It has a rockabilly and blues feel to it. The guitar is the protagonist. It’s the first time we’ve used a wind section – it resembles the recording of a band recorded in the 50’s”. The second single was just released exclusively on Billboard.com in the U.S.

Diamante Eléctrico had a whirlwind year with their album ‘B’. They won the Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album, toured the United States and Mexico, and opened for The Rolling Stones and The Foo Fighters in their native Bogotá.

The band has broken barriers both in the Colombian and rock scenes in general with their unorthodox song structures, honest lyrics, and unrivaled energy, making it impossible not to move to their songs.

As their sound is maturing, rest assured that Diamante Eléctrico will hit us with an album equally sweet and gloriously intense this fall.

El viernes pasado se lanzó sorpresivamente esta nueva grabación totalmente análoga realizada durante el mes de abril en los estudios de Tigo Music/Audivisión de la ciudad de Bogotá con el ingeniero de Third Man Records Joshua V. Smith conocido por su trabajo con Jack White, Beck y The Dead Weather, entre otros.

“Queríamos hacer un disco que nos representara, ahora estamos pasando por una época totalmente distinta a la de hace 2 años” – afirma el vocalista Juan Galeano.

Para algunos, este nuevo álbum podrá ser percibido como más experimental y conceptual, saltando por tiempos y ritmos, como en su momento lo hicieron sus héroes Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath y algunos otros. No es un disco “fácil” pero agrega un nivel de madurez al sonido de la banda que no escuchamos en ‘B’.

“Placebo” es uno de los temas más animados en el disco. Viene acompañado con el ‘riff Diamante’ ya identificable. Líricamente, la canción compara a las personas con placebos, últimamente eres el único que puede decidir como algo te afecta.

Sobre”Déjala Rodar” agrega: “Tiene influencias rockabilly y blues. La guitarra es la protagonista. Es la primera vez que usamos una sección de vientos – El estilo es similar a la de una banda grabada en los 50’s”. El segundo sencillo apenas fue lanzado a través de Billboard.com en EE.UU..

Diamante Eléctrico tuvo un año impresionante con su álbum ‘B’. Ganaron el Latin Grammy al Mejor Álbum de Rock fueron de gira por los Estados Unidos, México y abrieron para The Rolling Stones y Foo Fighters en Bogotá.

La banda ha roto barreras en la escena de rock Colombiana, con estructuras de canciones poco convencionales, sus letras sinceras, y su energía sin rival. Su sonido está madurando. Diamante Eléctrico, nos sorprende con un álbum que no dejará de llevar la intensidad que ya conocemos.
