La Santa Cecilia happen to be in the midst of a very special celebration of life, with a new born daughter recently arriving for one band member and another on the way soon.   But, while the band is overjoyed to celebrate the spirit of new life, they continue to be creatively driven by traditions of their cultural heritage, and are expanding their repertoire for Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with the new single “Calaverita” being released this week. While last year’s “Apology Song”from the hit movie “Book of Life” was a beautifully sung sad lament, “Calaverita” finds La Marisoul and her bandmates creating a reverent party to awaken the spirits of our departed loved ones and celebrate their passions: To open all the doors – Let memories fill me Those that hug the soul… I’m not afraid of death -Cause it’s part of me – It was born with me and with me -One day it will go…Cala cala calavera calaverita (little skull) – You light up a candle in my heart – Cala cala calavera the night invites us. The dead are dancing to my song.

“La Santa Cecilia have come up with what is destined to be a classic for the band – ‘I Won’t Cry For You’, which is a throwback to the sound of swing and the big band era. Throughout their career, La Santa Cecilia has been known for being a band that has no boundaries, La Marisoul can sing her heart out on a ranchera, or the band can get everyone dancing with a cumbia, or they can also make the most hardcore rockers rock along with the band, and this time around, the band does it again with their incursion into the beloved sound of big band swing, the sound of the WWII and the pachucos. ‘I Won’t Cry For You’ starts off with a catchy swing drum beat that is accompanied masterfully by Pepe Carlos and his accordion, all the while Alex Bendaña keeps the sound bouncy with his stand up bass as Miguel ‘Oso’ Ramirez keeps the energy lively on the percussions and La Marisoul puts that special spice to those hard biting lyrics telling her man that he needs to shape up or she will find someone else. Produced by multiple Grammy winner, Sebastian Krys, La Santa Cecilia has been able to hit the jack pot once again and ‘I Won’t Cry For You’ is definitely a song that could take La Santa Cecilia to even bigger audiences….,  if any band deserves recognition for their hard work, La Santa Cecilia certainly deserve it and you can catch the band on the road all over the U.S for the remainder of this year”.
